National Insurance Academy, Pune (NIA Pune) was founded in 1980 with the backing of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, by the Public Sector Insurance Companies: Life Insurance Corporation of India, General Insurance Corporation of India Ltd, The New India Assurance Co. Ltd, National Insurance Co. Ltd, The Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd, and United India Insurance Co. Ltd.

NIA Pune has been offering a two-year full-time academic management program since 2004 after 40 years of offering a management development program. By providing high-quality education, NIA Pune is cultivating future leaders who will carry the science and art of risk management into a new era. Through a variety of techniques, including classroom instruction and learning outside of it, seminars, case creation, etc., NIA Pune offers proactive education to its students. NIA Pune is approved by AICTE and AIU bodies. NIA Pune offers only a PGDM degree. Admission to NIA Pune is done online, and the application form can be obtained on the college's website.

NIA Pune has a highly qualified, seasoned faculty, most of whom hold doctorates in the appropriate fields. The specializations are trained by professors who are deputized from high positions in the public sector of insurance corporations. NIA Pune is the ideal location to develop young minds for a better grasp of the corporate world because of its rich atmosphere and dynamic culture. NIA Pune has a large campus (about 32 acres) where the administrative, academic, hostel and residential buildings are located amidst lush vegetation. The 32 acres of land that make up the academy's infrastructure include hostel blocks, administrative blocks, academic blocks with 8 contemporary, state-of-the-art classrooms, 2 IT Parks, 8 syndicate rooms, 24 faculty rooms, multi-purpose halls, libraries, computer centers, kitchens, dining halls, cafeterias, and receptions, auditoriums, meditation halls, gymnasiums, badminton courts, swimming pools, and 5 hostels with every MDP dormitory room comes equipped with a TV and a computer with internet access. LAN access is available in the PGDM hostel rooms so students can utilize laptops.

The Placement Committee of NIA Pune is led by the Placement Chairperson and Placement Secretariat and is a student-driven committee. The committee manages the Campus Recruitment Program and the Summer Internship Program. It makes contact with potential employers, and schedules personal interviews and pre-placement talks on campus. The facilities needed by visiting organizations are planned and supplied. The students of NIA Pune get placed in companies like Orient PSJC Insurance Company, Qatar Insurance Company, Accenture Strategy and Consulting, Cognizant Consulting, Atos Syntel, Accenture Technology, C2L BIZ Solutions, Cognizant Technologies, Infosys, etc. NIA Pune awards 9 scholarships to students, including those from economically disadvantaged areas. These scholarships are contingent upon the required attendance, academic achievement, and good behavior.

Admission Procedure

National Insurance Academy, Pune offers only PGDM degrees. Short-listed students based on their performance on the CAT (Common Admission Test) or CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) scores is the first step in the selection process. The students who made the short list then advance to the group talks and individual interviews. To be eligible for the diploma, each student must successfully complete six trimesters of rigorous academic work in addition to an eight-week summer internship programme, a major research project, a value-adding project, and participation in a number of workshops.
