The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar was established in 1960 and has now emerged as one of the leading institutions in the field of technology.

The NIT, Srinagar is an autonomous institute that has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

Students are taught by a group of renowned faculty members who provide proper knowledge and information. Teachers use both theoretical and practical methods to provide the best learning experience for students. The esteemed institute offers undergraduate courses such as B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. The admission procedure for UG students is conducted through JOSAA- Joint Seat Allocation Authority. Students willing to take admission to the NIT, Srinagar must appear for the Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-Main). Candidates must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education with necessary marks.

Besides, eligible candidates are provided with various scholarships like Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students, Scholarships for Top Class Education for students with disabilities, Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme and more.

The placement cell connects students with internship opportunities in the industry. Students can get help with placements and higher education opportunities. Finisar, IBM, Polaris, ABB, and others are among the organizations that take part in placement drives conducted by the NIT, Srinagar.

A traditional library, a digital library with access to E-resources, computer labs, separate hostel accommodations for boys and girls, well furnished classrooms, indoor and outdoor sports facilities are among the major facilities that the NIT, Srinagar provides.

Admission Procedure

The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar runs an admission procedure for the students (co-ed) in courses of Engineering (B.Tech) based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) via the JoSAA/CSAB portal. Candidates must go to the examination website's official webpage to receive the necessary information and apply. Following their participation, candidates must get the required qualifying marks to meet the NITSrinagar's cut-off in order to register for the appropriate course, which is followed by the candidates' final admission procedure with the admission fee payment.

The M.Tech, M.Phil, and PhD programmes are also available at NIT Srinagar. GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) scores are used to determine admission for M. Tech. students.  For admission to a PhD or M.Phil programme, a master's degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 60% is needed. The departments' tests and interviews determine which applicants will be hired.
