The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Meghalaya was established in 2010 with a major aim of disseminating quality education and technical knowledge to students for the well being of the society.
The NIT, Meghalaya is a Government-run institute that is an autonomous body that features a group of faculty members who are dedicated to imparting knowledge-based information with proper references. Students are provided with sufficient well-researched academic resources, both theoretical and practical.
NIT, Meghalaya is a co-ed institute that offers undergraduate courses like B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (EE), B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (ME) and B.Tech in Civil Engineering (CE). Students are required to qualify for the Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-Main). They must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. The procedure of joint seat allocation, better known as Common Counselling, is operated by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB).
Students are offered various government scholarship schemes like scholarships associated with the Chinese Government, scholarships from Swami Dayanand Education Foundation and United States-India Educational Foundation and many more. A well-versed placement unit in the Career Development Center of NIT, Meghalaya operates the placement process. Students are provided with various skill development facilities such as Pre-placement talks, pre-placement presentations, written tests, online assessments, GD, and PI sessions that get them prepared for landing jobs in reputable companies like Infosys, Amazon, L&T Group, Samsung, Chegg, and others who take active part in placement drives.
A traditional library, a digital library, course based labs and well-furnished classrooms are among the major academic amenities that the NIT, Meghalaya offers. Besides, there is a hostel accommodation separate for boys and girls, bus service, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, medical facilities and two canteens available for students.

Admission Procedure
The National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya runs an admission procedure for the students (co-ed) in courses of Engineering (B.Tech) based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) via the JoSAA/CSAB portal. Candidates must go to the examination website's official webpage to receive the necessary information and apply. Following their participation, candidates must get the required qualifying marks to meet the NIT, Meghalaya's cut-off to register for the appropriate course, followed by the candidates' final admission procedure with the admission fee payment.
NIT, Meghalaya also offer a postgraduate program such as M.Tech, M.Sc and PhD. Which M. Tech. students are admitted based on their GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score. All Admission to M.Sc. programmes is based on Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) score. A master's degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 60% is required for admission to a PhD programme.

In the Career Development Center of the National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya there is a placement unit for the students to provide the recruiting process initiated by the institute. Recruiters from top-tier organisations such as Infosys, Amazon, L&T Group, Samsung, Chegg, and others come to NIT, Meghalaya to recruit qualified students and offer them job chances.
