The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra was established in 1963 with the major aim of imparting quality education and innovative skills in the field of technology. The Government-run institute which is recognized as a ‘Deemed University’ has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.

NIT Kurukshetra is a co-ed institute that offers undergraduate courses like B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Students willing to take admission to NIT Kurukshetra are required to qualify in the JEE (Main) exam. Candidates must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. The admission process is based on counseling and score obtained in the JEE (Main) exam.

A range of scholarships like Swami Dayanand Education Foundation Scholarship, L.R.Mundra Memorial Scholarship, SPDC Scholarship Scheme are available for students at NIT Kurukshetra.

A Training and Placement Cell at NIT Kurukshetra holds a healthy relationship with a few reputable companies. Admission Procedure

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra runs an online admission procedure for the students (co-ed) in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree courses. Admission to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) courses are based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) via the JoSAA/CSAB portal. Candidates must go to the examination's official webpage to receive the necessary information and apply. Following their participation, candidates must get the required qualifying marks to meet NIT Kurukshetra's cut-off in order to register for the appropriate course, which is followed by the candidates' final admission procedure with the admission fee payment.

NIT Kurukshetra offers a number of postgraduate degrees, including Master of Science (M.Sc), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes with a variety of specialisations. Candidates seeking admission to the M.Tech and M.Sc program must hold a Bachelor's degree and Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) and Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score. MBA admissions are based on the Management Aptitude Test (MAT), Common Admission Test (CAT) and Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) exams. MCA admissions are carried out through National Institute of Technology Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) exam.

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra maintains a Training and Placement Cell that serves as a single point of contact for businesses interested in forming a long-term partnership with the institute. Prof. In-Charge leads the cell, which is backed up by Faculty In-Charge, the Placement Coordination Committee of Students (PCC), and the secretariat.
