The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur (NITD) was founded by an Act of the Parliament back in the year 1960. The college is regarded as one of the most well-known pace setters in the field of engineering in the country.
The NITD is an autonomous college which is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
The exceptional teaching staff of the NITD are highly qualified and experienced to provide the students theoretical as well as practical knowledge. At present the NITD offers undergraduate courses in Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science and Engineering Department, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Earth and Environmental Studies, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Physics.
The NITD grants final admissions to candidates who have passed their JoSAA/CSAB and DASA entrance exams (JEE). Government issued scholarship schemes are also provided by the college. Popular organisations like: Infosy, Amazon, TCS are known to be recruiting from the institute every year. To provide exactly the correct atmosphere to the students, the library here features over 1.7 lakh volumes of books, journals, text books and many other such reference materials. Facilities of digital library are even available. Course based laboratories along with a dedicated computer center is also a part of the campus.
Furthermore, the NITD campus features separate hostel spaces for boys and girls. To help students develop physical skills, learn teamwork and play, different sports grounds, courts and pitches are present in the vicinity of the campus.
Students here can avail the convenience of budget friendly canteen, cafes and restaurants. Resident, contractual and specialist doctors from different domains are available in the campus to assist in case of any emergency. Admission Procedure
The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur runs an admission procedure for the students (co-ed) in courses of Engineering (B.Tech) based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) via the JoSAA/CSAB portal. Candidates must go to the examination website's official webpage to receive the necessary information and apply. Following their participation, candidates must get the required qualifying marks to meet the NITD's cut-off to register for the appropriate course, followed by the candidates' final admission procedure with the admission fee payment.
Additionally, the National Institute of Technology in Durgapur provides postgraduate degree programs in M.Tech, M.Sc., MBA, and Ph.D. Admission to the postgraduate program is based on the applicants' performance in their undergraduate program from an accredited university along with the required score.

Placements
The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur features a placement unit that has achieved various milestones and built an academic excellence environment. Normally, placements begin in the first semester of the last year (Seventh Semester), i.e. in July. Prior to this, in the month of May, an invitation is sent to all past recruiters. A form is included with the invitation, asking for the company's profile and information (CPI Form). The CPI Form is posted on the notice board after the companies like Infosy, Amazon, TCS and many more have expressed their willingness. The employer comes to NITD campus on the designated day, gives a pre-placement discussion, performs tests and interviews with willing individuals, and selects the best. The NITD's placement policy, which is available on the placement portal, is followed by the students.
