National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT Calicut) is a premier public university of national importance, centrally funded by MHRD, devoted to technical education in the state of Kerala. NIT Calicut is affiliated with the University of Calicut and is also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The exceptional faculty members of the college are Ph.D. holders who are dedicated to assisting students reach their future goals. At present, the courses offered by the college include: B.Tech in: Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, ​​Materials Science and Engineering, and B.Arch in Architecture.   

"International standing of the greatest calibre" is the optimum mission of NIT Calicut. NIT Calicut has ten departments, three schools and six multidisciplinary centres. NITC offers several undergraduate programmes, postgraduate programmes and doctoral research programmes in various streams of Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Planning, Management and Science.

The campus is enriched with a nearly 6500 student population and is fully residential. The faculties and staff members are well qualified in their areas of expertise selected across the country. NIT Calicut has consistently maintained the rank in the first fifty, in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), under the category of engineering and technology institutions, with the latest ranking of 2022 being 31, and under the Architecture Category, with the latest ranking of 2 in the year 2022. In the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) conducted by the Ministry of Education, it is placed at the 9th rank among the Institutes of National Importance, Central Universities & CFTIs. The Institute's Innovation Council (IIC) of NIT Calicut was given a 5-star rating by MIC (MHRD's Innovation Council) and AICTE for the activity-year 2019 – 2020. Admissions at NIT Calicut are conducted online based on the JEE(Mains). Students willing to apply can apply for the entrance exams on the official websites of JoSAA/ CSAB. Students qualifying the same are further eligible to apply for the several departments of Engineering and Architecture. Different scholarships like: Lekshmi Ammal (SILA) Scholarship, Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship/CSS scholarship /PM Scholarship, Kotak Kanya Scholarship and many more are available for girls and specially disabled students. The Training and Placement Centre available on the campus invites major top notch companies to the institute that further recruits capable students. The huge library of the campus plays an integral role in supporting quality education by providing countless resources, journals and other course materials. This library is said to be having around 1.17 lakh printed books along with other valuable educational materials. Students here are also provided access to a digital library. Course specific laboratories and a dedicated computer centre is even present in the vicinity of the campus. The college is a fully residential institute which features separate hostels for boys and girls with all sorts of basic amenities. Furthermore, the campus also has its own day care centre along with two ATMS in its premises.

Admission Procedure

The National Institute of Technology, Calicut admits students (co-ed) on the basis of JEE(Mains) through the JoSAA/CSAB. Applicants are required to apply for the entrance exam on the official websites of JoSAA/ CSAB, along with a fee payment, after which they will receive their exam admit cards. Qualified students will be eligible to apply for several departments of Engineering and Architecture studies. 

NIT Calicut offers undergraduate programmes such as B.Tech and B.Arch. NIT Calicut also offers postgraduate degrees in M.Tech, M.Plan, M.Sc, MCA, MBA and PhD courses. Through centralised counselling, CCMT admits postgraduate students to M.Tech. programmes based on Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scores and CCMN admits postgraduate students to M.Sc. programmes based on Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) scores. Based on Common Admission Test (CAT) scores, applicants are admitted to MBA programmes.

National Institute of Technology, Calicut has a diverse faculty community with a wide range of technical and scientific capabilities. All faculty members Ph. D. holders who are entirely dedicated towards teaching, research, administrative and outreach activities The Institute comprises faculty who have had appropriate exposure to a variety of best practises implemented by the world's leading schools. The faculty members are involved in teaching, new course/cirriculum development and have sucessfully completed more than 70 crore INR research projects. There are now 315 faculty members at NIT Calicut, divided among the ranks of Professor (HAG), Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor who are solely recruited/promoted by an open interview process.
