National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHNS Bangalore), located in Bengaluru, was established in 1974 and it is one of the most prestigious multidisciplinary institutes of mental health & neuroscience that provides comprehensive patient care as well as quality training in this field. The Government institute was declared a ‘Deemed University’ in 1994 by the Central Government for holding a reputed position as well as growth and contribution to mental health and neuroscience across the country. Apart from these, the eminent institute was considered to be an ‘Institute of National Importance.' The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved the institute as well. 

The faculty at the institute is immensely focused and dedicated to providing high-class education, upgrading their knowledge and shaping the future of students. They help the students in understand the subject via theory and practical sessions that get students prepared to be professionals in future. 

The undergraduate courses offered by the college include the following Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a duration of 4 years, Bachelor of Science in Anesthesia Technology, Bachelor of Science in Radiology, and Diploma in Clinical Neurophysiology Technology with a duration of 3 years. 

NIMHNS Bangalore's admissions are conducted through online counselling. To apply for their undergraduate degrees, candidates must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course for which they candidate is applying. The candidate has to go through the admission counselling process for the NEET-UG-qualified candidates. 

Students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. To get admission to undergraduate courses, candidates are required to meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course in which the candidate is applying for. Counselling for admission is conducted online. Most importantly, students have to appear for NEET-UG. The admission process is based on merit. Various scholarships and financial aid for needy meritorious students are offered to students. Educational loan facilities are also extended by the college. Students are provided with exciting job and internship opportunities. Each year, students are recruited regarding their qualifications in different sectors like private, public, and government.

Admission Procedure

National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences, Bangalore’s admissions are conducted through online counselling. To apply for their undergraduate degrees, candidates must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course for which they candidate is applying. The candidate has to go through the admission counselling process for the NEET-UG-qualified candidates. While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. Most importantly the admission takes place when the candidate has a valid score in the NEET-UG. The admission depends on a pure merit basis.

NIMHNS Bangalore provides master's degree programmes (M.Sc) in a variety of fields, including biostatistics, psychiatric nursing, clinical psychology, neuroscience nursing, and yoga therapy. These courses last two years and candidates are chosen based on their performance and how well they perform in the entrance exam and interview. MD programmes are provided in a variety of fields. To apply for it candidates must have earned their MBBS degree from an accredited institution in order to enrol in these three-year programmes. Candidates are chosen based on how well they perform on the entrance exam and during the interview.

The Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) and the Institute of National Importance Super-Specialty Entrance Test (INI-SS-ET) are used by NIMHNS Bangalore to determine postgraduate admission to the DM and M.Ch programmes.  According to their performance on the entrance exam, applicants are called for interviews and/or admission. Holders of an MBBS or MD/DNB degree may apply for the DM course, but anybody with an MBBS or MS/DNB degree may apply for the M.Ch programme. NIMHNS Bangalore admissions are handled at the doctoral level for programmes like M.Phil. and PhD. For M.Phil. admission, NIMHNS Bangalore administers an entrance examination. To be admitted, the applicants must receive at least a 50% on the entrance exam, and those who have been shortlisted will be contacted for an interview.
