The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), located in Bengaluru, was established in the year 1997. The National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru is an autonomous institute which offers undergraduate courses such as Bachelor of Fashion Technology in Apparel, Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Lifestyle Accessories (Interior Products and Handcrafted Accessories), Fashion Communication, and Fashion Design, Knitwear Design and Textile Design. To get admission to the NIFT Bengaluru, candidates are required to complete their 10+2 education and appear for the institute’s entrance examination along with Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT) and Situation Round Test. Those who will qualify for the examinations and tests will be given admission. Scholarships are provided to students who are meritorious from the NIFT’s Development Funds. For students who require financial assistance, NIFT's Means-cum-Merit Financial Assistance helps them overcome the problem and study to their full potential.

The Placement Cell of NIFT Bengaluru, is dedicated to providing training, industrial exposure and many opportunities to work in top companies across India. H&M, Bata India Ltd, RaniwalaJewellers Pvt. Ltd, Go Colors, and Decathlon is among the leading companies, that provide placements along with top designers, Journalism and FMCGs. There are three centralised processes of placement at NIFT which includes on-campus, off-campus and pre-placement offers.

The campus of National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru is fulfilled with all the basic amenities such as an indoor sports complex, a cafeteria, high-speed internet on the campus, an expansive auditorium equipped with hydraulic ramps for fashion shows, a girls’ hostel with 70 rooms, a recreation room, medical facility along with laboratories such as Computer lab, Photography lab, Weaving lab, Pattern making and draping lab, Dyeing and printing lab, Knitwear labs, Technology lab, Garment technology lab, Accessory Design workshop, Leather Design lab with the latest technology, digital and traditional library with books and periodicals, national and international fashion and textile journals, textile collections and fully equipped lecture rooms and spacious classrooms.

Admission Procedure

The National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru offers a number of degrees, including B.Des, B.F.Tech, MF. Tech, M.Des, Master of Fashion Management (MFM), and Master of Fashion Technology (MFT). In addition, NIFT Bengaluru provides a selection of Diploma Programs and Continuing Education Programs (CEP). Admission to Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs is determined by the NIFT Entrance Exam. The NIFT Entrance Exam consists of the Situation Test round, the General Ability Test (GAT), and the Creative Ability Test (CAT). The GAT is the criterion for admission to B.F. Tech.

Placements

Campus Placements at the National Institute of Fashion Technology provides a platform for graduating students from diverse disciplines in two-year postgraduate and four-year undergraduate programmes to achieve their professional hopes and objectives, and consequently requires employer organizations' active and persistent participation. The placement process of NIFTs are centralised. Companies can hire students from any of the NIFT campuses or courses through three channels that the institute facilitates: on-campus placements, pre-placement offers, and off-campus placements. Top designers, as well as companies from the FMCG, journalism, and media industries, provide job opportunities to students at NIFT placements. H&M, Bata India Ltd, RaniwalaJewellers Pvt. Scholarships

Every year, a significant amount of money from the NIFT Development Fund is put to good use in the area of scholarship. "NIFT's Means-cum-Merit Financial Assistance" plan allows students from low-income families to receive reduced tuition at any of its campuses in order to maximise their potential.
