Established under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, on November 15, 2016, the National Institute of Design, Haryana (NID Haryana) has been declared an Institute of National Importance by the National Institute of Design Act, 2014 and the NID (Amendment) Act 2019. NID Haryana strives to be a leader in Design Education and Research, and a beacon of innovative design directions in the industry, commerce, and development sectors.

NID Haryana offers four-year B.Des programs in industrial design, visual communication, and textile and garment design, all of which operate on a two-semester per year schedule. NID Haryana follows the online admission procedure and the form can be obtained from the college's website.

The department workshops at NID Haryana are well-equipped with machinery and tools required for various design processes. The workshops are designed to provide hands-on experience to the students in various design processes. NID Haryana has workshops for carpentry, weaving, metalwork, dyeing, and printing. The Resource Center/Library at NID Haryana is a hub of knowledge and learning. The library has an extensive collection of books, journals, and magazines related to design and allied fields. The library also has access to online resources such as e-books, e-journals, and databases. The library is a quiet space that enables students to concentrate on their studies. More than 2000 titles make up Resource Centre's extensive library.

The mission of NID Haryana is to develop students into talented professionals with the ultimate objective of either placing them in an industry-relevant position or developing them into prosperous entrepreneurs. The Placement Cell is dedicated to assisting all companies affiliated with NID Haryana to successfully conduct their internship drives during the internship season. Through timely, efficient, and mutually beneficial services, the cell aims to ensure a hassle-free experience for both the companies and the students, helping the latter secure the best internships available. Some of the companies which offer jobs to the students of NID Haryana are- Deloitte, Accenture, Mindtree, TCS, Oneplus, TRD Studios, Shahi, Crimson Healthcare, etc

NID Haryana provides scholarships to students who are meritorious and economically weak. NID Haryana introduced the Scholarship Grant beginning with the academic year 2020–21. It is given out through a merit-based system.

Admission Procedure

National Institute of Design, Haryana offers four-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des) degree in three specializations - Industrial Design, Visual Communication, and Textile and Garment Design, all of which operate on a two-semester per year schedule.

The National Institute of Design-Design Aptitude Test (NID-DAT) is a common entrance exam that all NIDs, including NID Haryana, must take to get admission. Candidates must have finished their 10+2 in any stream in order to be admitted to the B.Des programme at NID Haryana.
