The National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad has three campuses, one of which National Institute of Design, Bengaluru (NID Bengaluru) is located in Yeshvanthpur within the north western region of Bengaluru, Karnataka. Established in 2006 under the joint initiative of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as well as the Ministry of Information Technology of the Government of India, today NID Bengaluru stands as a complete conglomeration on a comparatively diminutive 2-acre site.
NID Bengaluru offers a Post-Graduate programme in Master of Design ( M. Design) with various specializations. For the Master of Design (M.des) programme, a candidate has to complete any bachelor's degree or full-time diploma programme of at least four-year duration in any specialization-(Fine arts/ Architecture/ Design) with valid marks.
NID Bengaluru has numerous highly qualified and experienced faculty members. The primary goal of the faculty is to provide the necessary knowledge and skills for students to be successful in their chosen fields. NID Bengaluru organizes campus placements every year to allow employers and postgraduates to interact with and for companies to find qualified candidates for hiring inside their organisations. Every option to provide students with training and work opportunities is carefully considered by the placement department. Also, the department of placement organises the yearly industrial interface. the placement department organizes internships. The placement division organizes industrial training and encourages student participation in industrial training, graduation projects, full-time placements, classroom projects, and lateral placements., Major recruiters are- Samsung, Tata Consultancy Services, Titan, Vardhman Textiles, Godrej & Boyce, HCL Technologies, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, IBM India etc.
Admission Procedure
National Institute of Design, Bengaluru offers only a Master of Design (M. Des) degree with various specializations. The admission process at NID Bengaluru is conducted online process.
For the Master of Design (M.des) program, a candidate has to complete any bachelor's degree or full-time diploma program of at least four-year duration in any specialization—(fine arts, design, architecture), or the applicant must have completed a bachelor's degree from a recognized educational institution in any specialization.
Candidates must pass the National Institute of Design-Design Aptitude Test (NID-DAT) conducted by NID Bengaluru. After the DAT Prelims, candidates who have been selected will be scheduled to take the stage 2 DAT Mains.
