In 2007, the Government of India visualized the National Institute of Design, Andhra Pradesh (NID Andhra Pradesh) to be one of four institutions to uphold the legacy of design education in India. NID Andhra Pradesh was established in September 2015, as a second autonomous design institute, approved by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.

NID Andhra Pradesh provides a full-time, four-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) degree in Textile and Apparel Design, Industrial Design, and Communication Design.  On the basis of the Common Design Aptitude Tes(DAT) admission to the B.Des program would be granted. For admission to the B.Des program at NID Andhra Pradesh, candidates must have completed their 10+2 in any stream.

The professors at NID Andhra Pradesh are really skilled, have excellent positions in the field, provide excellent treatment, and are very informed and helpful. The students are given a practical orientation to the subject matter under the direction of distinguished faculty members, as well as an understanding of many aspects of academia and research.

NID Andhra Pradesh has spacious and well-equipped classrooms with modern teaching aids such as projectors, screens, and whiteboards. The IT lab is a facility designed to provide students with access to the latest technology in the field of design. The NID Andhra Pradesh library is a vast resource for students and faculty. It has a collection of over 10,000 books, journals, and digital resources related to design and allied fields. The library is open for extended hours and provides a peaceful environment for studying and research. The industrial design studio is a workspace designed to simulate a real-world design environment. It is equipped with state-of-the-art design tools and software such as CAD/CAM, prototyping machines, and 3D printers. The studio is designed to facilitate collaboration and innovation in the field of industrial design. The communication design studio is a workspace designed to facilitate the creation of visual communication materials. It is equipped with design tools such as graphic design software, typography tools, and digital printing facilities. The studio is designed to provide a creative and inspiring environment for the students to develop their skills in communication design. The textile and apparel design studio is a workspace designed for students to learn about fabric, color, and texture. The studio is equipped with tools such as sewing machines, dyeing facilities, and weaving machines. The studio is designed to facilitate the creation of textiles and apparel designs.

NID Andhra Pradesh has several workshops designed to provide students with hands-on experience in various aspects of design. NID Andhra Pradesh provides accommodation facilities for students who wish to stay on campus. The hostel is designed to provide a comfortable and safe environment for the students. It is equipped with all necessary facilities such as 24-hour security, internet access, and laundry facilities. NID Andhra Pradesh has a cafeteria that serves a variety of healthy and nutritious food options. The cafeteria is designed to provide students with a comfortable and relaxing environment to eat and socialize. NID Andhra Pradesh has a well-furnished, air-conditioned auditorium equipped with state-of-the-art audio and video facilities. Admission Procedure

National Institute of Design, Andhra Pradesh offers a full-time, four-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) degree in three different specializations - Textile and Apparel Design, Industrial Design, and Communication Design. 

Admission to the B.Des programme will be based on the scores obtained in the National Institute of Design-Design Aptitude Test (NID-DAT). Candidates must have finished their 10+2 in any stream in order to be admitted to the B.Des programme at NID Andhra Pradesh.
