Nalanda University, Rajgir (NU Rajgir) is a historic institution of higher learning located in the town of Rajgir in the Indian state of Bihar. Founded in the 5th century CE, it is one of the oldest universities in the world and was a major center of learning in ancient India.
NU Rajgir was founded under the patronage of the Gupta Empire, and it quickly became a hub of intellectual activity. It attracted students and scholars from all over India and even from other countries, such as China, Tibet, and Korea. It was renowned for its teaching in subjects such as astronomy, mathematics, medicine, logic, philosophy, and the arts.
NU Rajgir is spread over a vast area, with numerous lecture halls, libraries, and residential quarters for students and teachers. It has a main library that has digital access too and also had well-equipped laboratories and observatories for scientific research.
NU Rajgir was a major centre of Buddhism and attracted many Buddhist scholars and practitioners. NU Rajgir had close ties with the Buddhist monasteries in the area, and its curriculum included the study of Buddhist philosophy and scriptures. However, the university was open to students and scholars of all religions, and it had a cosmopolitan atmosphere that fostered cross-cultural exchange.
Today, the new university, established in 2010, aims to be a global centre of excellence in the fields of science, technology, and humanities, while drawing inspiration from the ancient traditions of scholarship and learning that once flourished at Nalanda.
NU Rajgir offers courses and programs in avid disciplines starting from diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate to doctoral levels. Admission Procedure
A doctoral (PhD) programme, a postgraduate (Master's programme) programme and an MBA programme are offered by Nalanda University, Rajgir. The entire admissions application process is online and paperless. To complete the online application form using the online portal, the candidate must go to the university website.
Applicants for the master's degree programme must have earned a minimum of 55% on their undergraduate or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. In addition to the requirements listed above, admission to an MBA programme requires a minimum percentile score of 68 on any of the entrance exams: the Common Admission Test (CAT), the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), or the Management Aptitude Test (MAT). And for the PhD course, candidates must hold a postgraduate degree from a recognized board.
On the basis of a Statement of Purpose (SOP), Self Introductory Note, and Interview, students will be chosen. Every paper examines for plagiarism.
