Nagaland University, Zunheboto (NU, Zunheboto) is the only Central University in Nagaland and one among the 13 Universities in India that was established in 1994. Initially, the fledgling University faced numerous challenges. Lumami, the University's headquarters, could not immediately accommodate the necessary in order to begin functioning as such. As a result, Nagaland University has been operating as the University's interim headquarters from Kohima for nearly a decade and a half. All new departments had to be established in Lumami, with Kohima remaining as the interim headquarters. Construction activities began in earnest, with the goal of making it as suitable for academic pursuits at the Headquarters as possible. After new constructions were completed to a reasonable level, the interim arrangement at Kohima was relocated to Lumami in the middle of 2010. Nagaland University, Zunheboto strives to promote economic and social development in the state of Nagaland, by providing a platform for research, learning, and innovation. NU, Zunheboto aims to provide quality education and to create a diversified pool of highly-skilled professionals. NU, Zunheboto is dedicated to offering integrated courses incorporating holistic learning experiences. Nagaland University, Zunheboto aspires to impart knowledge and to provide infrastructural and academic facilities for its seekers. NU, Zunheboto offers integrated courses across the faculties of humanities, natural and physical sciences, social sciences, agricultural science, forestry, and engineering. NU, Zunheboto follows an online method of admission. Applicants to NU, Zunheboto are selected based on their merit and eligibility criteria. The core of NU, Zunheboto is made of its highly qualified and experienced professors, who consistently encourage and mentor students. Admission Procedure
Nagaland University, Zunheboto conducts its admission process under the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The students interested in seeking admission at the prestigious university can apply through the official website of the university. The admission for the undergraduate degree courses is made according to the merits secured by the students in their 10+2 or equivalent examination in the relevant subject discipline from a recognised board. For the selection of the applicants for the postgraduate degree courses, the selection of the applicants is made according to the merits secured by the students in their bachelor's degree course in the relevant subject discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. For the Doctoral degree courses, the selection of the applicants is made according to the merits secured by the students in their postgraduate degree course with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate, a special preference will be given to applicants securing the Junior Research Fellowship conducted by the University Grants Commission or an applicant who has a Master's degree in Philosophy (MPhil) in the relevant subject discipline
