The foundation of Milli Al-Ameen College for Girls, Kolkata (MAACG Kolkata) by the MILLI EDUCATIONAL ORGANISATION, which was registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act of 1961, satiated the Muslims of Kolkata's long-held yearning to have a degree college for girls from educationally underprivileged parts of society in general and Muslims in particular. MAACG Kolkata is the first degree-granting institution founded by the Muslim Community in West Bengal since the country's independence. Hazrat Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi, an internationally renowned distinguished Islamic scholar, laid the cornerstone for MAACG Kolkata on March 19, 1984. With the start of the academic year 2000-01, MAACG Kolkata became a higher education institution affiliated with Calcutta University. By order FNO. 775 dated October 8, 2008, the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions gave MAACG Kolkata minority status under Article 30 of the Indian Constitution. MAACG Kolkata is approved by UGC. MAACG Kolkata offers only undergraduate courses- BA, BA(H), B.com, and B.Sc, degrees. MAACG Kolkata follows online admission and the application form can be obtained from the college's website. MAACG Kolkata has a dedicated and trained faculty. The mission of the faculty is to empower local females to carry the torch for society and bring about change across the country. MAACG Kolkata is an educational institution with a wide array of facilities to ensure its students are provided with a safe and conducive learning environment. MAACG Kolkata has a well-equipped library-cum-reading room where students can study or do reference work. There is a general borrowing section available, where students are allowed to take out two or three books at a time using their library cards. To provide students with a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, MAACG Kolkata also has a spacious common room equipped with various indoor games. Other facilities include a well-equipped laboratory, well-furnished classrooms, a computer lab, and free WiFi. Students can also find respite from their studies at the campus canteen.
