Maharani Kasiswari College, Kolkata (MKC Kolkata) is a prestigious degree-granting institution for women with a lofty aim and vision. MKC Kolkata was founded in 1964 when Manindra Chandra College was divided into three divisions - Morning, Day, and Evening - with independent affiliations under CU, at the instruction of the UGC. The morning portion, designed only for female students, began operating on December 2nd, 1964 and was given the name MKC Kolkata to honor Maharani Kasiswari, who once came to live in this mansion as a 7-year-old bride. Since its foundation, MKC Kolkata has held to the belief that education empowers women on all levels—family, community, society, nation, and international—psychologically, economically, politically, and socially.
MKC Kolkata offers only undergraduate programs - B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com Degrees with both Honours and General Courses. All admissions are absolutely provisional and are pending approval by the relevant authorities, including Calcutta University, which will provide a Registration Certificate after final review and approval.
MKC Kolkata has a dedicated and trained faculty. The faculty is committed to teaching female students through both a formal curriculum and informal learning opportunities.
MKC Kolkata is an educational institution with a wide array of facilities to ensure its students are provided with a safe and conducive learning environment MKC Kolkata has libraries that are well-stocked and have large reading rooms attached to them. To meet the users' different academic demands, the library holds over 31,000 volumes and subscribes to more than 15 journals and periodicals. The library also participates in the NLIST program, giving patrons access to more than 3 lakh e-books and 5000 e-journals. MKC Kolkata offers well-equipped labs for courses in food and nutrition, geography, psychology, computer science, and information technology. MKC Kolkata supplies audiovisual devices such as OHPs, LCD projectors, etc. to the classrooms so that teachers can more easily and effectively explain the subject matter to students. For each combination of subjects, a separate application form must be submitted. The candidates' marks as submitted through the online process will be used to create the merit list. If there are still places available in each topic, admission will be completed following payment of the required admission fees.
