Madras Medical College (MMC), Chennai, established in 1835 is one of the oldest medical colleges in the country. MMC, Chennai affiliated with the DR. M.G.R. Medical University provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses across the various branches of medicine, surgery, and allied health sciences. The hospital provides round-the-clock service towards its patients. It is equipped with all the relevant services like Accidental Trauma Care Services, Ortho Trauma Care Services, Casualty Services, and other allied healthcare services required for treating the mass. For convenience in the treatment of patients, the hospital is equipped with modernised healthcare machinery, tools, and equipment. For the convenience of the students, the MMC, Chennai campus provides separate hostels for boys and girls. Intended for the recreation of its students the college has facilities for playing cricket, hockey, volleyball, and table tennis. The campus also has a gymnasium that is equipped with modern fitness equipment.

For the admission process, MMC, Chennai uses a quota system for the seat matrix, where 85% of the seats are based upon the seats designated for state residents, while the remaining 15% of the seats are filled based on the merits secured by a student. The students interested in seeking admission at MMC, Chennai can apply through the institute’s official website. The MBBS course students' selection is based on the merits secured in 10+2 or equivalent examination and the merits secured in the National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET). The selection of the students is made according to the merits secured in the qualifying examinations. For admission to the postgraduate courses, a candidate must have a bachelor's degree in the relevant subject stream.
