Loreto College (LCK), Kolkata was established in the year 1912 by the Loreto Sisters, with the vision of empowering women through holistic and all-around education. Today it is one of the leading colleges for women, offering a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
The undergraduate courses offered are B.A. Hons in English, Education, History, Political Science, Psychology, Geography, and Economics and electives in Bengali, Hindi, Sociology, Journalism, Mathematics, Statistics, Film Studies and Human Rights; and B.Sc. in Psychology, Economics and Geography.
LC Kolkata is affiliated to the University of Calcutta and is also recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as a college with Potential for Excellence.

Admission Procedure
Loreto College, Kolkata’s admissions are conducted online. To apply for their undergraduate degrees of BA (Hons), BA (Genaral) and B.Sc with multiple specializations, candidates must access their application form online. The form should be filled out and submitted on their website. While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognized board of secondary education, and one of the top four subjects should be English. Also, it is mandatory that the candidate has studied the subject they are applying for as part of their secondary school education.
LC Kolkata also offers M.A. and B.ed courses. Candidates for postgraduate degrees must possess a bachelor's degree from an institution recognised by the UGC in the desired field. Candidates must be female to be accepted. Only online submission of application forms and payment of required fees will be accepted for admission to the post-graduate English programme.
