Lady Doak College, Madurai (LDC Madurai), was established in 1948 by Ms Katie Wilcox, an American missionary who had a zeal for women's empowerment. As an Ecumenical Christian College whose mission is to provide students of all faiths with a quality education of Christian character, LDC Madurai strives to develop their intellectual abilities, detect, recognise, and nurture their interests and talents, and train them to be responsible and valuable citizens. LDC Madurai operates as a branch of the Katie Wilcox Education Association and is recognised as one of India's first autonomous colleges.

LDC Madurai is also recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University. Students can pursue 23 undergraduate (UG), 24 postgraduate (PG), 7 doctorate (PhD), 5 diploma (DIP), and 3 postgraduate diploma (PG DIP) courses at LDC Madurai. The UG courses are for the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Commerce Honours (B.Com (Hons)), and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc). The PG courses are for the degrees of Master of Arts (M.A), Master of Social Work (M.S.W), Master of Commerce (M.Com), and Master of Science (M.Sc). Additionally, students can also opt for the research degrees of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at LDC Madurai. The highly knowledgeable and skilled faculty at LDC Madurai aims to impart quality education and prepare the students for a brighter horizon. The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of LDC Madurai provides placement assistance as well as pre-placement training to the students, who are recruited by companies such as Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, TATA Consultancy Services, HCL, and many more. The Cell also offers coaching for competitive examinations such as UPSC and Banking to the students of LDC Madurai.

LDC Madurai provides the best available infrastructural support to ensure the holistic development of the students. The Library at LDC Madurai has a rich collection of books, journals, periodicals as well as daily newspapers. Additionally, the digital section of the Library provides access to a host of e-resources along with photocopying facilities. Students are accommodated in 12 residential halls on the Campus of LDC Madurai with a capacity of 750. Recognising the importance of an active lifestyle, LDC Madurai provides facilities for several indoor and outdoor games, and a swimming pool and an athletic track for all to avail. Regular classes take place in spacious classrooms while practical sessions take place in specialised cutting-edge departmental laboratories. A botanical garden is also present on the Campus of LDC Madurai along with 2 theatres, 1 auditorium, and 1 indoor stadium-cum-auditorium. There are 3 cafeterias, a medical clinic staffed with medical officers, lecture halls, as well as an ATM facility within the LDC Madurai Campus as well.

Admission Procedure

Lady Doak College, Mumbai (LDC Madurai) offers 23 UG programmes, 15 PG programmes, 9 M.Phil. programmes, 7 Ph.D. programmes, 3 PG Diploma programmes, 5 Diploma programmes and 15 certificate courses. Candidates have to apply through the college website portal. For UG admission in LDC Madurai candidates must pass in +2 examamination in the relevant subject from any board. Candidates need to have graduations that Madurai Kamaraj University recognises in order to be admitted to the PG programme in LDC Madurai.

Scholarships

UG and PG students at Lady Doak College, Madurai are eligible for a number of scholarships. Sponsored schoalrships include the "Team Everest Scholarship", "the Scranton Scholarship", "the TVS Scholarship", "the Moore Family Scholarship", and "the Endowed Scholarships" from the friends and faculty of LDC Madurai. Management scholarships are given to sports students who are National and State level players and who represent Madurai Kamaraj University. Management scholarships are also awarded to intern students, and worker and it is also given for lunch. Scholarships from the Central and state governments are also offered.
