Lady Brabourne College (LBC) Kolkata located in Park Circus, is one of the first institutions offering education to women in India. The college was established in the year 1939 by the Government of Bengal and is named after the wife of Lord Brabourne.
Surrounded by a lavish green environment and British architecture, LBC Kolkata offers undergraduate courses such as B.A in Bengali, English, Hindi, History, Persian, Philosophy, Political Science, Sanskrit, Sociology and Urdu ; B.Sc in Botany, Chemistry, Economy, Geography, Maths, Microbiology, Physics, Statistics and Zoology and diploma courses in Computer, Spanish, Multimedia and Public Relations. The college is affiliated to Calcutta University and has been approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Besides academic development, the college offers a great range of facilities to the students such as a vast library which is divided into three sections, on-campus WiFi, a laboratory, an auditorium, and classrooms with modern equipment. A hostel with a capacity of accommodating 250 girls with a visitor’s room, a common room, a gym, a dining room, a sports complex, shuttle services, and a canteen are some of the major facilities available for students at LBC Kolkata.
LBC Kolkata has a reputed and reliable faculty whose primary goal is to liberate and educate women via quality education, resulting in knowledgeable and confident personalities. The Career Counseling and Placement Cell of the college has held many seminars and counseling sessions to improve students’ knowledge of several professional and academic prospects that are open to them.
Admission to the undergraduate courses and diploma programs at LBC Kolkata is merit-based following the Choice Based Credit System. Candidates can apply by visiting the college's official website. There are a few rounds of admission which are conducted online after the publication of a provisional merit list. Candidates get limited time to finish their online admission process. LBC Kolkata also offers both National & State-level scholarships to meritorious students, sponsored by the Government of India. It also provides scholarships from local agencies and organizations.

Admission Procedure
Admission to Lady Brabourne College Kolkata's three-year B.A./B.Sc. Honors courses offered through the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) are merit-based and will be done only through the College's official admission portal. Only the Revised Comprehensive Merit List (provisional) published on the internet will be used to select candidates for admission. After the Revised Comprehensive Merit List (provisional) is published, online admission will be done in various phases using this portal. There will be distinct Call Lists for the courses for each round of admission, and candidates will be granted a specific time frame for online admission for each round.
