Established on 15th August 1990, the Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon (KBCNMU Jalgaon) was formerly known as North Maharashtra University. KBCNMU Jalgaon covers three districts; Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar, a predominantly rural tribal area in the Khandesh region. KBCNMU Jalgaon has been committed to access, equity, and academic excellence - the 'Trisutri' of the University - and it has beautified its campus with a massive plantation drive of over 2 lakh trees, for which it was awarded the 'Vanshree Award - 2000' by the Government of Maharashtra and the “Indira Priyadarshini Vrikshmitra Award-2002” by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, New Delhi. KBCNMU Jalgaon was recognized under section 2 (f) in 1991 and 12 (B) in 1994 under the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956.
