Established in May 1964 by an Act of Legislature of Madhya Pradesh Government, Jiwaji University, Gwalior ( JU Gwalior) is located in Gwalior with a sprawling campus of over 225 acres of land at Naulakha Parade Ground. Dr. Sarwapalli Radhakrishnan, the then President of India, laid the foundation stone on December 11, 1964. JU Gwalior has a wide territorial jurisdiction, covering the districts of Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, and Ashok Nagar in the Gwalior-Chambal Division. JU Gwalior 's motto, Vidya Prapyate Tejah, is embedded in its logo. Jiwaji University has 35 Schools of Studies (University Teaching Departments, UTD) and is approved by UGC, AICTE, NCTE, PCI, and BCI.

JU Gwalior has implemented a green university policy named “Think Green, Go Green” which focuses on making a clean, green, and sustainable environment for the students and staff. JU Gwalior is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including well-furnished classrooms, computers with internet connectivity, and Wi-Fi facilities. This provides the most conducive environment for dynamic and focused discussions and learning. JU Gwalior has also recently introduced smart classes in its teaching departments, further enhancing the learning experience for the students. For quality research, JU Gwalior has developed a Central Instrumentation facility that offers all the sophisticated instruments required for quality research. This facility is a testament to JU Gwalior’s commitment to providing students and researchers with the best possible facilities so that they can conduct quality research. JU Gwalior’s Central Library is another facility that is top-notch. With a collection of more than 208,000 lakh books (text and reference), 8200 bound volumes of journals, and 8500+ online journals (through J-Gate@E-sodhsindhu), the library is a treasure trove of learning resources. Additionally, the library has 23 local/national newspapers and 37 magazines, ensuring that students can keep up-to-date with current affairs. The Sports Complex at JU Gwalior is a hub of sporting activity. It has two floodlight basketball courts with portable uprights, three floodlight tennis courts, four caged volleyball courts, a hockey ground, a grassy football ground, a standard cricket ground with turf wicket, one Kho-Kho, two Kabaddi, one Handball, one Indoor hall for Table Tennis, Judo, Aerobic, Badminton, Wrestling and Weight Lifting, and a 400m grassy track. The sports complex is named the Mahadji Scindia Sports Complex and the newly constructed Gymnasium, which is one of the best in Indian Universities with all modern facilities, has been named the Madhav Rao Scindia Gymnasium. The departments have seminar/meeting halls that are used for multiple activities such as seminars, workshops, group discussions, interactive sessions, and conferences. JU Gwalior offers separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, a University Health Center, and a cafeteria.

Admission Procedure

For UG admission, candidates must pass HSC(10+2) from any board. And for PG admission, candidates must complete a bachelor's degree and for a Ph.D. degree, postgraduation is required.
