The International Institute of Management Sciences (IIMS), Kolkata was set up in 1979 with the aim to provide quality management education to students in and around Kolkata. Today this private sector institute has gained repute nationally. IIMS, Kolkata offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the areas of Business Administration, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Interior Designing, Fashion Designing and Project and Infrastructure Management. Courses available at the undergraduate level are Bachelor degrees in Business Studies, Information Technology, Hospitality Management and Travel and Tourism Management; Diploma in Business Administration, Interior Designing, Fashion Designing and Hospitality and Tourism Management; as well as Advanced Diploma in Business Administration and Hospitality and Tourism Management. The Bachelor's degrees are all 3 years in duration, and the diplomas are 1-year long. Admissions to the courses are conducted online and candidates who have successfully completed their 10+2 school leaving examinations are eligible to apply. Candidate selection is done on the basis of merit.
International Institute of Management Sciences, Kolkata is affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal. The courses they offer are also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). All their courses are specially designed to meet the unique needs of the industry, so as to fill the gaps in students’ knowledge and skill set. To reach this goal, IIMS, Kolkata provides students with a number of resources that encourage a more holistic education. These include a well-stocked library, fully equipped computer labs, smart classrooms and Wi-Fi on campus. Students can also apply for hostel seats which are separately available for boys and girls. There are also sports facilities and a hygienically maintained cafeteria. IIMS, Kolkata has provisions for student loans and scholarships which are provided on a need basis to meritorious students.

IIMS Kolkata also offers Post-Graduate MBA ( Master In Business Administration) programs with various specializations. To apply there degree candidates must fulfil admission criteria. IIMS Kolkata conducts the admission process as per the guidelines of MAKAUT. All candidates must qualify for the entrance examination Management Aptitude Test (MAT)/JEMAT. Final admission is based on merit basis.
