International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar (IIIT Bhubaneswar) is a government-autonomous engineering institute recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The foundation stone of the college was laid down by then-president Dr AOJ Abdul Kalam in 2005; IIIT Bhubaneswar was subsequently established in November 2006 as a registered society by the owning body, the Government of Odisha. The institute was converted into a university by the Odisha government in January 2014. IIIT Bhubaneswar is headed by Suresh Chandra Mahapatra (Chairman) and Manoj Kumar Pattnaik (Director).

The International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar is situated in Malipada, Bhubaneswar on a sprawling 50 acre-campus. The IIIT Bhubaneswar campus houses over 30 hi-tech AV classrooms accommodating up to 180 students, four well-equipped auditoriums seating 150-300 individuals, state-of-the-art laboratories for high-performance computing, IOS and OSX, a data centre lab, CLIA, bioinformatics, and a virtual and cloud based-lab, a well-stocked library housing a plethora of reading materials, and sports facilities for games like football, cricket, and tennis.

IIIT Bhubaneswar has four departments of study; Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication, Electrical, Basic Science, and Humanities. IIIT Bhubaneswar offers B.Tech. as an undergraduate course across various specialisations like computer science engineering, computer engineering, information technology, electrical and electronics, and electronics and communication. Postgraduate courses offered include M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes across similar specialisations. Candidates may apply under the "Open to All" (OTA) category or the "Odisha Category", each category reserving 50% of the total seats. OTA candidates will be admitted to IIIT Bhubaneswar based on their JEE ranks and JoSAA counselling, while Odisha category applicants with a valid JEE score will be admitted by another counselling procedure.

IIIT Bhubaneswar boasts an eminent roster of faculty members, the majority of whom are pursuing /have already acquired doctorates. The teaching faculty is committed to imparting high-quality higher education, imparting basic and applied knowledge to students, and teaching them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical fields. The Training and Placement (T&P) Cell of the International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar works to connect students with corporate sectors and develop their problem-solving abilities, personality development, and communication skills. The placement cell invites potential recruiters to IIIT Bhubaneswar for campus recruitment; some of the top recruiters include Amazon, Optum, Turtlemint, Juspay, ValueLabs, Baker Hughes, and Siemens. All qualified students have obtained employment through campus placement in the last few academic years.

IIIT Bhubaneswar provides financial aid to students through a variety of scholarships and financial aid, both directly and through various organisations. The "GB Scholarship" scholarship is granted annually to the top three students from each B.Tech. branch. Other important scholarships include the Department of Higher Education's "CAFAS / Medhabruti Scholarship," the "IMFA Scholarship," and the "VIKAS Educational Charitable Trust Scholarship".

IIIT Bhubaneswar also hosts and participates in several cultural, sports, academic, and technical festivals and competitions throughout the year. Every February, the institute organises “Advaita” - a cultural and technical festival and one of the most popular college fests in Odisha. The college also organises “Nebulae”- a welcoming party organised by the sophomore for freshman students joining B.Tech. programmes.

Admission Procedure

IIIT Bhubaneswar(co-ed) offers B.Tech degrees in five specializations. Candidates can apply in two categories: "Odisha Category" and "Open to All" (OTA). Admission to regular B.Tech programmes under the OTA category will be solely based on the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) Main merit list, followed by counselling by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA)/Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). Candidates from the Odisha category with a valid JEE Main rank will be admitted through the IIIT Bhubaneswar admissions process which is as per the eligibility guidelines of JoSAA/CSAB. Candidates who are interested can apply online at the official website.

IIIT Bhubaneswar also offers a post-graduate degree ( M. Tech) and PhD degree with various specializations. Interested candidates can apply through their official website. For their M.Tech degree candidate must qualify for an entrance examination GATE or IIIT Bhubaneswar's own admission process. And for PhD degree candidates must qualify for an entrance examination conducted by the institute.

 

Faculty

The roles and responsibilities of faculty members at IIIT Bhubaneswar are closely connected to the basic purposes of higher education. They impart basic or applied knowledge to students while also supporting them in the learning process and application of that knowledge. The majority of the professors have doctorates, and the rest are nearing completion.
