Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, Jamnagar (ITRA Jamnagar) was established in 1956 by the Government of India as the Institute of Post Graduate Teaching and Research in Ayurveda. It was later renamed to its current name in 2020.

ITRA Jamnagar was created by combining three distinct institutes: (i) the Institute of Post Graduate Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (IPGT & RA), (ii) Shree Gulabkunverba Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, and (iii) The Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences, Jamnagar. Moreover, the Maharshi Patanjali Institute for Yoga Naturopathy Education and Research (MPIYNER), which is a constituent SFI college of the Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, is also integrated with the ITRA Jamnagar through the department of Swasthavritta.

ITRA Jamnagar offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Ayurveda. The campus of the institute is equipped with modern infrastructure facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, a digital library, and a traditional library. Admission Procedure

Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, Jamnagar grants doctoral, postdoctoral, undergraduate, and diploma degrees. ITRA Jamnagar offers B. Pharm, D. Pharm, MD, MS, PhD, and B. A. M. S. courses. Students can apply for these courses online.

Candidates for admission to the U.G. course must have passed a higher secondary school certificate examination after 12 years of school with physics, chemistry, and biology as subjects, Admission to the U.G. course is monitored centrally by Govt. of India through a central admission committee on the basis of merit at the qualifying examination. Candidates for the MD and MS programmes should be Ayurveda graduates from an accredited university. For admission, a joint entrance test will be held.

Passing the M.D. (Ayu)/M.S. is a requirement for the PhD programme (Ayu). or an equivalent postgraduate degree in the relevant subject or speciality from an accredited university. Selection will be based on personal interviews and outstanding academic records.
