The Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHM), Kolkata, was established in the year 1963 and has been one of the most prestigious institutes for hotel management across the country. The faculty of IHM Kolkata is very well experienced and always motivate students to excel in their career. They provide utmost guidance and support to the students and impart education and knowledge proficiently and dedicatedly. It is a co-ed institute affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT).

IHM Kolkata offers an undergraduate course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration and diploma programmes in Food Production, Front Office Operations, Bakery and Confectionary, Housekeeping Operation and Food and Beverage Services. Candidates need to appear and clear the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to be eligible to get admission to IHM Kolkata. The selection will be made based on entrance examination marks and academic merit.

Many big companies such as The Westin, Aditya Birla, Reliance and others take part in the placement drive conducted by the placement coordinator of the institute. Students get training and guidance from the placement coordinator to appear for the placement.

From expansive classrooms with modern equipment to spacious auditorium, library and laboratory, the institute have it all to fulfil the basic academic need of students. Other amenities include a sports complex, hostel separate for boys and girls, a gym, high-speed internet connection and medical facilities.

Admission Procedure

Admission to all of the courses in the Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Kolkata is based on merit and the NCHMCT Joint Entrance Examination (NCHMCT-JEE) scores. Candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent to be considered for admission to the B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Management program. For vegetarian candidates, IHM Kolkata also offers a Vegetarian Practical in Food Production option. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree and a valid NCHMCT-JEE score to apply for the M.Sc course. The admission of candidates will be done on a merit basis through counselling. For diploma course institutes conducts its own process of application and interview to select the students.
