Set in the scenic and sylvan surroundings of Garhi Cantt, the Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Dehradun (IHM Dehradun) was born on 14th of October 2003 with the foundation stone laying ceremony being consummated by Shri Jagmohan, then Hon’ble Union Minister of Tourism and Culture. Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition Dehradun (IHMD) is a premier hotel-management college that forms part of the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM). IHM Dehradun is the most prestigious and sought-after institute providing world-class education in Hotel Management courses.

IHM Dehradun is the latest addition to the chain of universities and was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India under its Grants-In-Aid Scheme. Spread in a beautifully landscaped area of 25 acres of the total 68 acres gifted by the ONGC the Institute commenced its first Academic Session from 24th July 2006 with Nelson’s number i.e. 111 against an approved intake of 120 students per year, with a number of students coming from various corners of this culturally divergent nation.. It is affiliated to Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT).

The idea was conceived by Shri Jagmohan, the then Hon’ble Union Minister of Tourism and Culture, during his visit to this beautiful valley of Doon known world over for its educational ethos, potential of tourism development and the existing and available infrastructure facilities. IHM Dehradun aims to impart required knowledge and skills in our students so they shine in their selected profession and have a successful career. IHM Dehradun awards a 3 year B.Sc. degree in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. The university offers 3 undergraduate courses in Food Production, Bakery and Confectionary, Food and Beverage Services. IHM Dehradun also provides several short-term courses. The admission procedure is conducted online via an application form or through a physical form obtained via the principal’s office. For admissions, all applicants are required to appear for the NCHMCT Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). Thereafter, admissions to the programs are determined by performance in the NCHMCT JEE and academic merit.

IHM Dehradun has a commendable placement record, which allows students to pursue a plethora of career prospects. Tommy Hilfiger, Leela G. IHM Dehradun campus is fully equipped with well-designed laboratories, classrooms that have been converted into learning halls that come with audio visual aids such as VCRs, TVs, OHPs, slide projectors, and LCD projectors, among other things. The campus houses a gym called 'BodyLine', which comprises the newest technology for all-round physical upliftment and training. The cafeteria has a 200-seat student dining hall and provides students with a clean and hygienic environment. The campus also has various indoor and outdoor sports facilities like basketball court, a cricketing pitch and a billiards table. The IHM Dehradun library houses 25 national and international periodicals, magazines, and journals relating to hospitality education and industry. Additionally, there’s an e-library system through which students can access any and all material related to the hospitality business from across the world. VCD, CD, DVD, and other media are also available. The campus comes with many additional facilities such as advanced training in kitchen, bakery, larder and cold room, demo kitchen, an air-conditioned restaurant with a mock bar, ATM, a coffee shop and a music studio. First aid and medical facilities are also available inside the campus. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled with strong connectivity. IHM Dehradun provides separate accommodation facilities for Boys and Girls’, all available within the campus. The hostels are well furnished and all the essential amenities are made available. During the very nascent years, IHM Dehradun has started carving a niche for itself.
