With an objective to create a hub of excellence, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), located in Ropar, was founded in 2008. It is an autonomous institution which has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Students are taught by a group of well qualified faculty members who are energetic and helpful. They try to assist students in every way possible.

IIT Ropar is a co-ed institution that offers multiple undergraduate courses such as B.Tech in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Biomedical Engineering and a postgraduate degree of B.Tech + M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. Admission at IIT Ropar is conducted online. Candidates can use the official website to submit an admissions application. Students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. To take admission to B.Tech and dual programmes, students must have a valid JEE Advanced score. The admission process at IIT Ropar is merit based.

Needy meritorious students are offered a range of scholarships including Merit-cum-Means scholarships and financial aids.

A Training and Placement (T&P) cell of IIT Ropar holds a good relationship with industries and companies who provide work opportunities to students. They put rigorous efforts round the clock to arrange workshops, industry lectures, seminars, synergy meets, panel discussions, and other corporate and professional training events for students. A number of reputable companies take active part in placement drives which observe the highest package of 18 LPA and an average of 12 LPA. Basic academic amenities provided by IIT Ropar include a central library; a digital library with e-resources; various laboratories such as Biomedical labs, Chemical labs, Engineering labs, Computer labs; smart air-conditioned classrooms; and on-campus Wi-Fi access. Besides, IIT Ropar offers other facilities like hostel accommodation; indoor and sports amenities; 24/7 medical facilities including a health centre, ambulance; an auditorium; seminar halls; on-campus ATM; and a cafeteria for providing nutritious food.

Admission Procedure

Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar’s admissions are conducted online. To apply for their undergraduate degrees, candidates must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course for which they candidate is applying for. The candidate has to go through the online admission process on the website. Most importantly the candidates must get a valid Joint Entrance Examination- Advanced(JEE-Advanced) score in order to be admitted to B.Tech and Dual Degree programmes. While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. Primarily admission to IIT, Ropar takes place on the merit obtained in the aforesaid exams.

In addition, IIT Ropar offers M.Tech, M.Sc and PHD courses. For admission to the M.Tech program, students must qualify the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) entrance test, and for admission to the M.Sc program, they must pass the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM). And a master's degree with at least 60% of the required marks is required for the PhD program.

Faculty

Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar has a bunch of well-qualified faculty members who are very enthusiastic and much concerned about their teaching process, they motivate their students in different ways and very approachable too. They use receprocative and understandable teaching methods in their classroom.

Placements

Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar has a dedicated Training and Placement (T&P) Cell that seeks to build long-term relationships with industries and companies to provide its students a variety of work options. The Career Development and Corporate Relations Centre provides the IIT Ropar placement cell (CDCRC). It is focussed on the general growth of pupils to have the necessary abilities to obtain employment. Workshops, industry lectures, seminars, synergy meets, panel discussions, and other corporate and professional training events are organised by the placement unit. Numerous elite companies from a variety of industries participate in the IIT Ropar placement drive each year to fill internships and full-time positions.

Scholarships

For undergraduate engineering and technology students, the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar provides Merit-cum-Means scholarships. About 25% of the students in a batch are allowed to take these. The recipient of the "Merit-cum-Means" scholarship is for a student who is in the general category. He/She gets a full tuition fee waiver. At the time of joining IIT Ropar B.Tech students are eligible to obtain a merit-cum-means scholarship. The All India Rank (AIR) in the JEE serves as the qualification standard for the first year. As long as the recipient continues to meet the eligibility and continuation conditions, the scholarships are renewed year until they have completed all of the program's academic requirements.
