Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar was established in 2008. The Government institute offers a unique educational experience and training in engineering disciplines and beyond. IIT Gandhinagar is an autonomous institute that is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

IIT Gandhinagar holds a faculty of world class well-qualified members. Understandable and reciprocative teaching methods are used by the faculty. Undergraduate courses offered by the institute include B.Tech in different specialisations like Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering and others. IIT Gandhinagar’s admissions are done online. Candidates willing to apply for their undergraduate degrees, must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course in which they are applying for. Students must have secured a valid score in JEE Advanced to get admitted to B.Tech programmes. Besides, students must have passed higher secondary exam from a recognised board of secondary education.

Placement drives conducted by CDS observe the highest package of 17.23 LPA and an average of 8.96 LPA.

IIT Gandhinagar comprises all the basic amenities required in the academic life of students including a traditional library, a digital library, well-equipped subject based laboratories, smart and air-conditioned classrooms and a large auditorium. Besides, separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls, outdoor sports facilities including a football field, cricket ground and many more, a recreation room, 24/7 medical facilities, on-campus ATM and a cafeteria are also available for students.

Admission Procedure

Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar’s admissions are conducted online. To apply for their undergraduate degrees, candidates must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course for which they candidate is applying. The candidate has to go through the online admission process on the website. Most importantly the candidates must get a valid Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) score in order to be admitted to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmes. While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. Primarily admission to IIT Gandhinagar takes place on the merit obtained in the aforesaid exams.

In addition, IIT Gandhinagar offers Postgraduate Diploma, Master of Arts (M.A.), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Science (M.Sc), Integrated B.Tech - M.Tech and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) courses. Candidates seeking admission to the postgraduate courses must score a minimum of 55% marks in B.Tech / Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) / Master of Science (M.Sc) or equivalent in appropriate branches. Admissions to the Master of Technology (M.Tech) and Postgraduate Diploma programs are based on the scores obtained in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Admissions to the M.Sc courses are based on scores obtained in Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM). For PhD courses candidates must score at least 55% marks in M.A / M.Sc / B.Tech / M.Tech / Bachelor of Science (BS) or equivalent degree in appropriate branches.

Every year, IIT Gandhinagar students are successfully placed into companies with well paying jobs. The Career Development Services are in charge of overseeing the entire IIT Gandhinagar placement effort, including communicating with the firms and disseminating the list of selected candidates.
