Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management, Kolkata (IISWBM Kolkata) India's first B-School, carries a long history. IISWBM Kolkata is majestic in many aspects and was established on 25 April 1953 by a resolution voted by the Senate of the University of Calcutta. It is distinguished by the finest alumni bandwagon and the grandeur of the building's stature at the center of education in Kolkata. The University of Calcutta, the Government of West Bengal, and the Government of India worked together on this project, which reached its conclusion at this point. The first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, laid the cornerstone for IISWBM Kolkata the nation's first institution to offer a management education program.

IISWBM Kolkata's three pillars—faculty, a positive learning environment, and successful alumni—serve as its strongholds. The AICTE has given IISWBM Kolkata its approval. IISWBM Kolkata offers only postgraduate programs such as MBA, M.Phil, MRM, MSW, and PG diploma degrees. Candidates for admission at IISWBM Kolkata must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject.
