Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru (IISc Bengaluru), was brought into existence by the collaborative efforts of Jamshedji Tata, the Mysore Royal Family, and the Government of India, in 1909. A premier institute for advanced scientific education and research, the work done at IISc Bengaluru is diverse, interdisciplinary and traverses traditional boundaries.

Students can pursue 6 undergraduate (UG), 27 postgraduate (PG), 4 integrated (Ph.D.) and 38 doctorate (Ph.D.) courses at IISc Bengaluru. The UG courses offer the degrees of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech); while the PG courses offer Master of Design (M.Des), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Management (M.Mgt) and Master of Science (M.Sc). Admission Procedure

Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru conducts the admission process under the guidelines of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The students interested in applying at IISc Bengaluru can apply through the official website of the institute. The selection of applicants for the undergraduate degree courses is made according to the merits secured by the students in their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised board. The selection of the applicants for the postgraduate degree courses is made according to the merits secured by the candidates in their bachelor's degree course in the relevant subject discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate along with the merits secured by the applicants in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED). For the doctoral degree courses, the selection of the applicants is made according to the merits secured by the students in their postgraduate degree course in the relevant subject with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in the Joint Admission test for Masters (JAM) or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
