Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad), was established in 1961 by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India. Students can pursue 3 postgraduate (PG), 2 diploma (DIP) and doctorate (PhD) courses at IIM Ahmedabad. The PG courses at IIM Ahmedabad provide the degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA). Applications for admission to IIM Ahmedabad can be submitted online via their official website. Admission to the PG courses at IIM Ahmedabad is secured by candidates on the basis of their merit in graduation and the Common Admission Test (CAT). For doctoral degrees, admission is secured on the basis of the candidate's merit in postgraduation and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) / Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) / GAT.

Admission Procedure
Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad conducts its admission procedure according to the outcome of the Common Admission Test (CAT). The students interested in applying for the postgraduate degree programme can apply through the official website of the institute. The admissions for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses are made according to the merits secured by the candidates in their undergraduate degree course from a recognised university along with the merits secured by the students in their CAT examination. After the selection of the candidates, the final selection of the candidates is made according to the outcomes of the candidates in an analytical written test and personal interview conducted by the IIM Ahmedabad authorities.
The selection of applicants for the MBA degree in Agri-Business Management is made upon the merits secured by the candidates in their bachelor's degree examination from a relevant agricultural subject from a recognised university. For students applying for the doctoral degree programmes, the selection of the applicants is based upon the merits secured by the students in their postgraduate degree course along with merits secured in Common Admission Test (CAT).

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad provides its students with excellent placement support. The institute campus has a well-functioning Placement Department that undertakes opportunities of providing its students with excellent employment opportunities across various reputable organisations. Every year various companies with national and international repute visit IIM Ahmedabad to conduct an on-campus placement, the campus placement process is segregated into two stages. In the first stage, the firms conduct a lateral process interview where the students are interviewed upon their prior work experiences and are offered mid-term managerial positions. In the second stage, the final placement process takes place where the firms are grouped into cohorts, based on the profile offered, and groups of cohorts the organisations are invited to the campus across different clusters.
Every year IIM Ahmedabad has been successful in placing its students at several reputable organisations with great packages offered to them.
