Established under the Act of Parliament 2017 and originally under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Indian Institute of Information Technology, Surat (IIIT Surat) is an Institute of National Importance, established on a not-for-profit, Public-Private-Partnership basis. In 2016, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the President of India, the Governor of the State of Gujarat, and the Industry partners Gujarat Narmada valley Fertilizer and Chemicals (GNFC), Gujarat Informatics Limited (GIL), and Gujarat Gas Limited. SVNIT was chosen to be the mentoring Institute for the Institute, which commenced its operations in 2017. Situated in Kholvad, Kamrej Taluka of Surat District, IIIT Surat is located close to the National Highway No.48 which connects Mumbai to New Delhi.
IIIT Surat is offering B. Tech. degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering. Admission to the B.Tech course required eligibility is 10+2 with the relevant stream from a recognized board.B.Tech aspirants are admitted based on the rank secured by the candidates in the Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main) and The Ph.D. program candidate should have a Master's degree with a relevant stream. Short-listed candidates will be called for a test and interview.
