Established in 1963 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up to strengthen the external trade sector of India. In 2002, the Institute was granted "Deemed to be University" status. Covering an expansive 7-acre region off the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata (IIFT Kolkata) campus is green and integrated, comprising independent blocks for academics, administration, and student living areas.
