Hooghly Mohsin College (HMC), Hooghly was established in 1836 and initially known as the HMC Hooghly, affiliated to the University of Calcutta. HMC Hooghly was later renamed HMC Hooghly in its centenary year, and became affiliated to the University of Burdwan in 1960.

Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), HMC Hooghly offers 36 undergraduate (UG) and 8 postgraduate (PG) courses for students to pursue. The UG courses offer the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc); while the PG courses offer Master of Arts (M.A), Master of Commerce (M.Com), and Master of Science (M.Sc). Admissions to HMC Hooghly take place online via the official College website.

HMC Hooghly also has a Career Counselling and Placement Cell, which oversees all career and placement-related activities.

The Central Library at HMC Hooghly has an extensive collection of books and periodicals, as well as a digital section which provides members access to a host of e-resources. Hostel accommodations are provided for boys at HMC Hooghly. Promoting an active lifestyle for the students, HMC Hooghly has provisions for both outdoor and indoor games such as football, cricket, volleyball and table tennis, as well as a well-equipped indoor gymnasium, and separate recreation rooms for boys and girls with indoor games facility. Regular classes at HMC Hooghly take place in spacious classrooms, while practical sessions are conducted in course-specific specialised laboratories. The Campus of HMC Hooghly additionally has a cafeteria, a medical centre, and seminar halls for the students and staff to avail.

Admission Procedure

Hooghly Mohsin College, Hooghly offers BA, BA (Hon), B. Com, B.com (Hon), B.Sc, B.Sc. (Hon), MA, M.Com, and M.Sc. degrees. HMC Hooghly follows online admission procedure. For UG admission at HMC Hooghly candidates must pass HSc (10+2) examination in a relevant stream from any board. Admission is merit-based and it is done on first-ccome-first -serve basis.
