Thiru.T.S.R.Khannaiyann, a great industrialist and philanthropist, established the Hindusthan Institute of Technology, Coimbatore (HIT Coimbatore) in 2007. HIT Coimbatore is an autonomous institution affiliated with Anna University, Chennai, and is approved by AICTE. The aim of HIT Coimbatore is to nurture future leaders in the industry, government, and educational institutions, to expand the knowledge of the engineering professions, and to shape the direction of engineering education and practice.

HIT Coimbatore has dedicated and trained faculty. The goals of the faculty are to deliver academic excellence in technical education using cutting-edge instructional techniques and to develop leadership abilities and creativity among students.
HIT Coimbatore has spacious classrooms that are equipped with modern teaching aids, such as projectors and audiovisual systems, to enhance the learning experience of the students. HIT Coimbatore has departmental labs for various courses, which are well-equipped with the latest equipment and software to help students gain practical knowledge in their respective fields. The library of HIT Coimbatore is well-equipped and spacious, measuring 432 Sq.M and providing seating for 100 people. It boasts a collection of 23,589 books and 1411 national and international journals, alongside reprographic and networking facilities in the Digital Library. The Central Library is fully computerized and offers a variety of modern resources such as books, printed and electronic journals, CD-ROMs, online databases, audio video cassettes, and project reports. HIT Coimbatore has a 10-acre playground with a 200-meter track for athletic events. HIT Coimbatore has an indoor stadium with a 93 m2 area for playing indoor sports such as table tennis, carrom, and chess. HIT Coimbatore also has outdoor playgrounds, and play courts for cricket, basketball court, football, tennis, shuttle court, volleyball, kabaddi, and ball badminton. There is also a gym and fitness center for the students. HIT Coimbatore provides bus facilities for students to commute to and from the college. HIT Coimbatore provides separate hostels for boys and girls, with all necessary amenities such as study tables, chairs, and comfortable beds. The campus has been fitted with ATMs courtesy of the City Union Bank & Canara Bank. HIT Coimbatore has a cafeteria that provides hygienic and nutritious food to students and staff.
The Corporate Relations Cell at HIT Coimbatore plays an important role in this regard, facilitating the relationship between students, faculty, and the corporate world. This Cell works year-round to provide students with training and placement opportunities, as well as to initiate interaction with the industry, share experiences, and understand their needs. For UG admission, candidates must pass HSC(10+2) from any board. Candidates for PG admission, must complete graduation from any university. The final selection for ME admission will be based on the score contained in TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test ) / CET (Common Entrance Test )/ GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) conducted by the university; for MBA admission, MAT(Management Aptitude Test) / TANCET / CET and for MCA admission, TANCET / CET scores will be required.
