Hindu College (HC), established in 1899 and affiliated with the University of Delhi (DU) in New Delhi, is one of the oldest and most revered colleges for the sciences, humanities, social sciences and commerce in India. The college is approved by the UGC.
With the motto of “Music of Truth”, Hindu College is widely known for its diverse courses, academic excellence, an abundance of co-curricular activities, acclaimed faculty, and robust placements. The Bachelor’s programme at Hindu is a 3-year long extensive course with various specializations and modules. The college offers courses in 15 comprehensive departments including English, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Philosophy, Sanskrit and more.

The admission procedure of Hindu College is grounded on the guidelines set by the University of Delhi. For undergraduate admissions, candidates are required to take the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) and eligibility for admission is entirely merit-based and determined by the DU cut-offs developed each year. As of 2021, the cut-off range for different undergraduate courses varied from 97.66% to 99.75%. The college offers both merit and need-based scholarship opportunities and financial aid to undergraduate students. There is a placement cell called ‘Disha’, which is known to have generated 90% of placements every year. Additionally, there is an internship cell called ‘Abhyas’. Graduates of Hindu college have worked at companies such as Google, Deloitte, HDFC, KPMG, Maruti, Jaypee etc.

The co-curricular and cultural arm of HC is exemplary, every department has its own society or cell. These societies have curated several interesting and inspiring fests and events over the years. Some of their societies include Ibtida (The Dramatics Society), which was founded by Indian Filmmaker and alumni Imtiaz Ali, Adhrita (The Classical Dance Society), Ankur (Society for the Needs of the Differently Abled), Scribe (The Creative Writing Society), and Symposium (Society for Debate and Public Policy). These co-curricular societies have set a standard in diversity and inclusivity, creating space for every student.


Hindu College is also known for its coveted faculty – the professors are among the best in the country and their pedagogy is unmatched. HC encourages an open and interactive relationship between the faculty and the student for the wholesome development of the students. In terms of infrastructure, the campus is spread across 25 acres approximately. The campus houses an auditorium, a seminar room, a large playground and a sports complex for both outdoor and indoor activities. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled, making knowledge and research accessible to students.

Hindu College's library is among the oldest college libraries, formed alongside the college in 1899. The administration adds up to thousands of books every year to their holistic repository. The library also provides students with a well-connected online system for academic research and other resources. The campus is also equipped with computer labs and science labs. The canteen is also situated inside the campus and serves hygienic and healthy food, it also serves as a space for students to gather and interact during lunch hours. HC has a separate hostel facility within the DU campus for boys and girls, equipped with all the essential amenities, a TV room, and a common room for the comfort of its students.

Admission Procedure

Hindu College New Delhi admissions are conducted online. To apply for their undergraduate degrees, candidates must appear and qualify for the CUET (Central University Entrance Test). While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school-leaving test from a recognized board of secondary education. Hindu College also offers a range of merit and need-based scholarships and financial aid opportunities to the students.

HC New Delhi also offers Postgraduate degree courses in M.A, M.Sc, and M.Com. Candidate seeking admission to these courses must be completed their graduation degree with the relevant stream. 

Faculty

Professors at the Hindu College are among the greatest in the country, and they train students in ways that no other institution can. The professors are open and honest with their students, and they assist them with each event or problem that arises. The teachers in the class prepare students to reach our full potential.

Placements

There is a placement cell called Disha, which creates about 90% of placements every year. There is also another internship cell called Abhyas. Organizations like Google, Deloitte, HDFC, KPMG, Maruti, Jaypee etc. have participated in their Placement Programme.
