Heramba Chandra College (HCC), Kolkata is a government undergraduate college affiliated with the University of Calcutta (CU). Popularly known as the South City Day College, HCC Kolkata was established on January 6, 1879, by the “Sadharan Brahmo Samaj” society with the involvement of prominent members of the samaj such as the then-president of the Samaj- Ananda Mohan Bose who bore the foundation expenses of the institution and Sivanath Sastri, who functioned as the organiser and secretary of the institute. The famous Indian nationalist leader Surendra Nath Banerjee also worked as a teacher in the school at that time as he was acquainted with Ananda Mohan Bose and Sivanath Sastri through the Indian Association during the country’s freedom struggle movement.
HCC Kolkata campus is expansive and houses several infrastructural facilities such as spacious classrooms, a well-stocked library, a computer lab and various course-based labs with state-of-the-art facilities, seminar rooms, wi-fi connectivity, a canteen, and sports facilities.
