The Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia (HIT Haldia) is a premier institute for technical education. Established in 1996, it is situated in Haldia in West Bengal and offers students a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The undergraduate courses taught at the moment all culminate in students getting a B.Tech degree. B.Tech degrees are offered in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Food Technology, Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) and Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security).

The Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia is affiliated with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal. HIT Haldia and its courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Their B.Tech programs have also been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

Students are offered the best in terms of resources to further enrich their time at the HIT Haldia. They have access to the Aryabhatta Central Library, well-equipped Central Computing Facility (CFF) lab and engineering workshops and laboratories as well as a state-of-the-art Convention Centre, all on a Wi-Fi-enabled campus. Beyond academics, students have access to sports areas, a multi-facility modern gym, as well as separate girls' and boys’ hostels. To attend to medical needs on campus, there is also a Residential Medical Officer and a 24-hour ambulance service. HIT Haldia conducts online college admissions, where students who have successfully completed their 10+2 school leaving examinations are eligible to apply. For B.Tech degrees, the eligible entrance exams are WB-PGET and GATE.

Admission Procedure

Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia’s admissions is conducted online. To apply for their undergraduate degrees, candidates must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognized board of secondary education with 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, or a relevant subject. For B.Tech. the selection of it is done through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations (WBJEE).

Two-year M.Tech programs in five disciplines are offered by the Haldia Institute of Technology. The institute also offers a two-year MCA program and a two-year MBA program. The requirement for the M. Tech program is a B.E./B.Tech degree from an accredited university. It is chosen using the West Bengal Post Graduate Entrance Test (WB-PGET) or the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The graduation requirement for the MBA program is any discipline, and candidates are chosen using the West Bengal Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test (WB-JEMAT). Students who have completed a 3-year degree program in mathematics as a required subject at the 10+2 or graduate level, or who have completed a BCA program, are eligible to apply. West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam for Computer Application (WB-JECA) is the method used for MCA selection. Before making its choice, the institute also conducts a group discussion and personal interview.
