Haldia Institute of Dental Sciences and Research (HIDSAR), Haldia was established in 2007 under the aegis of the Indian Centre for Advancement of Research and Education (ICARE). The private Institution is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) and recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI).

Students at HIDSAR Haldia receive policy training and are prepared to practise dentistry with knowledge and comprehension of a wide range of patient groups, dental specialisations, and practise environments. This instruction takes place in an ethical and professional setting where patients receive high-quality dental care.

HIDSAR Haldia  has been instrumental in the advancement of oral health care services and dental education since its foundation. The Institute offers 1 undergraduate (UG) and 7 postgraduate (PG) courses. The UG course that can be pursued at HIDSAR Haldia is Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), while the PG courses are Master of Dental Surgery with the following specialisations: Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, Periodontics, and Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry. Students need to qualify their 10+2 level examination and secure a valid rank in the NEET-UG examination in order to be eligible for admission to the aforementioned courses.

HIDSAR Haldia has all the necessary infrastructure to ensure quality education and all-around development of the students. HIDSAR Haldia  Library has over 4500 books, and 71 national and international journals with 10 years back volumes. The digital section provides access to 250 EBSCO e-journals, 400 free medical e-journals, over 380 educational CDs, and recorded class lectures for virtual learning. The 8000 square feet Library area is fully Wi-Fi and LAN enabled, and also has a spacious reading room and photocopying facilities. The students at HIDSAR Haldia are provided accommodations in separate hostels for boys and girls, each having an uninterrupted power supply. The hostels have their own common rooms with television sets and indoor game facilities. Classes are conducted at HIDSAR Haldia in four spacious 120-seater lecture halls equipped with the latest multimedia facilities. HIDSAR Haldia has multiple specialised modern laboratories which include a Pre-clinical Prosthetics and Dental Material Lab, OPD, Minor OT, and Ceramic Lab, as well as Anatomy Museum for the students to garner hands-on knowledge and experience.

Medical facilities are provided to the students and staff of HIDSAR Haldia with assistance from nearby Government Hospitals. Additionally, there are auditoriums, seminar halls, as well as bank and ATM facilities for the students and staff of HIDSAR Haldia to avail.

Admission Procedure

Eligible candidates who have passed their 10+2 board examinations and have secured a valid rank in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) can apply for the Haldia Institute of Dental Sciences and Research, Haldia for the course of BDS be it through the state government quota or the management quota. The shortlisted candidates should pay the necessary admission fees and get the required documents verified in order to secure a seat.
