Government Institute of Science, Nagpur (GIS Nagpur) was established in the year 1906 as Victoria Science College. It is the historical and most prestigious institute contributing towards the development in science education and is currently affiliated with Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University [R. T. M. Nagpur University]. Despite having having science as the core academic curriculum at GIS Nagpur, it promptly encourages its students to be part of extracurricular activities through the ‘Literary, Arts and Cultural Forum’.
GIS Nagpur offers undergraduate courses with Bachelor of Science [B. Sc.] degree with subjects combinations in the branches of science as Mathematics and Biology groups, where allied subjects are available with Physics, Statistics, Mathematics; Physics, Electronics, Mathematics; Chemistry, Botany, Zoology; Chemistry, Botany, Env. Science, etc. Postgraduate programs are offered with Master of Science [M. "National Merit Scholarship" "Student Welfare fund Scholarship" those who are Minimum 50% marks in last examination with NSS, NCC, Cultural activity or Sport participation certificate and whose parents' annual income is not more than Rs forty eight thousand only. "Eklavya Arthik Sahayya" those who are Graduate with More than 70% marks & annual income of parent is not more than Seventy five thousand can apply. "Indira Gandhi single Girl child school." Family having only one child i.e. Girl can apply. "Sukhdeoji Maharaj of Saongi Memorial Scholarship" those who are Topper in B.Sc with a subject of basic sciences can apply this scholarship. "Math & Physics merit Scholarship" More than 60% marks in XII exam. & must have Mathematics & Physics subject for B. Sc. He/ She may apply. "Inspire Scholarship" those student who are More than 80% marks in XII exam can apply.
