Government Dental College & Hospital, Ahmedabad (GDCH Ahmedabad) has been providing its dental services to the people of Gujarat and neighboring states for many years. Established in 1963, GDCH Ahmedabad is renowned for its academic and scientific excellence on national and international levels. GDCH Ahmedabad's mission is to educate its students and provide them with the best possible knowledge, train them in clinical work, achieve excellence, and offer high-quality services to patients. GDCH Ahmedabad is affiliated with Gujarat University, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Government of Gujarat, and is recognized by the Dental Council of India and by the UGC under sections 12B and 2F.

GDCH Ahmedabad provides five years undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree and a three years Postgraduate, Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) program with various specializations.

GDCH Ahmedabad is widely known to provide the best education in the medical sector. In-depth knowledge is imparted by faculty members who are renowned and most experienced in their field of study. They aim to bring out the best in students academically as well as professionally.

GDCH Ahmedabad has four spacious lecture halls, each one of 3444.45 sq feet, which can accommodate 125 students. Each lecture hall is a smart classroom equipped with integrated audiovisual teaching aids like projectors to enhance the learning process. The departmental labs are well-equipped and provide hands-on practical training to the students. The GDCH Ahmedabad Library boasts a vast collection of 5640+ copies of books on dental and medical topics, comprising 1200 textbooks, 841 reference books, 152 journal titles, 662 bound journals, 1570 loose journals, 150 rare books, and 15 reading materials on proceedings. Additionally, the library houses 758 Post Graduate Dissertations titles. The eight seminar rooms are well-equipped with air conditioning and the latest audiovisual aids like interactive whiteboards, smart screens, projectors, and an internet connection to conduct seminars, journal clubs, and case presentations throughout the year. GDCH Ahmedabad also has three conference halls with round tables and smart screens that provide a good setting for staff members to conduct group discussions and meetings. The Asmita Bhavan Auditorium, located within a 100-meter radius, has a seating capacity of over 400 and is a perfect venue for conducting workshops, seminars, and conferences. GDCH Ahmedabad has outdoor sports facilities like cricket, football, and volleyball, where students and staff can take a refreshing break from their daily routines. There is also an open area of 1250 sq. ft where students and staff play volleyball. In addition, there are two common grounds on the Medicity campus for football and cricket. Indoor games like table tennis, badminton, chess, and carom are also available. GDCH Ahmedabad offers in-campus hostel and mess services for its students, providing comfortable accommodations and healthy food. GDCH Ahmedabad is located within the campus of the Civil Hospital, with 24*7 emergency services available in case of any emergency.

GDCH Ahmedabad has a dedicated placement cell. Its primary goal by assisting students in obtaining internships and preparing for interviews. The placement department conducts a number of training sessions and hospital visits. A few healthcare organizations offer one-year internships to students in their final year. During visits to hospitals, students obtain practical training that will help them in their future careers. GDCH Ahmedabad offers students a wide range of internship possibilities. Most courses require students to complete internships is mandatory.

Admission Procedure

Government Dental College & Hospital, Ahmedabad provides five years undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree and a three years Postgraduate, Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) programme with various specializations. Interested candidates can apply through their official website. To apply for their degree candidate must meet all basic admission criteria. GDCH Ahmedabad conducts admission as per the guidelines of the Dental Council of India. For Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree candidates must qualify for an entrance examination for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test - (UG) BDS / (PG) MDS with valid marks.

GDCH Ahmedabad also provide a PhD degree programme in Dentistry affiliated with Gujarat University. For PhD degree, the candidate must have to complete the master's degree with a minimum of 55% marks.
