Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology (GCELT), Kolkata is a government engineering college in Kolkata, West Bengal affiliated with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal. GCELT Kolkata was established in 1919 as the “Calcutta Research Tannery” on the GOI’s Munitions Board’s recommendations to explore local leather resources like skins, hides, and tanning materials to develop leather production and the leather industry in India.

Admission Procedure
The minimal requirement for admission to the B.Tech program at the Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology, Kolkata is the completion of the 10+2 in the science stream with a minimum of 45%. Based on the performance in the qualifying test - West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE), candidates for the B.Tech degree will be chosen.
GCELT Kolkata also offers postgraduate degrees M.Tech with various disciplines. For their M.Tech degree candidate must qualify for an entrance examination GATE/PGET with valid marks. Final admission is based on a personal interview basis.
