Government Arts College, Udumalpet (GAC Udumalpet) affiliated with Bharathiar University was established in 1971. The institute is located in Coimbatore in the Tiruppur district. GAC Udumalpet offers their undergraduate programs through Bachelor of Arts [B.A.] degrees in the disciplines of Tamil, English, History, Public Administration, etc; Bachelor of Science [B. Sc.] degrees in Chemistry, Botany, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Computer Science; Bachelor of Commerce [B. Com.] degrees can be pursued with two honours options or even as general, and a Bachelor of Business Administration [BBA] degree is also available in the institution. Apart from BBA and B. Com. with specialisations, postgraduate programs are offered with all the subjects of the undergraduate courses with the addition of Master of Arts in Tourism. Research programs with Ph. D. and M. Phil degrees are also conferred with a number of disciplines.
GAC Udumalpet encourages students to pursue co-curricular activities besides their academic studies. The extremely significant bodies that are upholding such activities and engaging students beyond academics are National Cadet Corps [NCC], National Service Scheme [NSS], Youth Red Cross [YRC], and Red Ribbon Club [RRC]. Scholarships are awarded to the deserving candidates supported by the institution’s end. Sports are considered seriously by the Physical Education department of GAC Udumalpet. It is one of the pioneering departments with enormous sports records achieved in various competitions. Students practice different games of their interest on the sports ground of the campus.
GAC Udumalpet infrastructure has outstanding facilities with Information and Communication tools [ICT] readily installed inside the classrooms, seminar halls, and auditoriums. The laboratories are also of a great deal to exemplify better research situations. The Library has shelved effective collections which are of high regard. The highly qualified faculty of GAC Udumalpet takes sufficient attempts to promote effective and technologyenhanced teaching practices and socially relevant research activities. The professors thus enable the creation of opportunities for students to increase their employability and instil students a sense of responsibility for social and communal harmony and for the protection of the environment.
