GIET University, Gunupur (GIETU) is a private engineering and technology university located in Gunupur, Odisha. Priorly known as the Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology, GIETU Gunupur was established in 1997 by the Vidya Bharati Educational Trust, Odisha. GIETU Gunupur is a University Grants Commission (UGC)-recognised higher education and research institute and was awarded university status after UGC approval in 2018 by an act of the Odisha Legislated Assembly. The college was included in the list of Universities in 2019 under the 1956 UGC Act. The motto of GIETU Gunupur is “Excellence-our Essence”.
GIET University, Gunupur is situated on an expansive campus spanning over 113.03 acres. The campus is equipped with air-conditioned classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, a large library accommodation departmental libraries and two reading halls with over 1000 students’ seating capacities, separate hostel facilities for boys and girls equipped with residential quarters and a central mess, 110 state-of-the-art laboratories and 20 computer labs, a spacious auditorium, canteens, and on-campus medical facilities. The campus also has sports facilities for football, badminton, and swimming. There is also an outdoor gymnasium and a recreation room. The campus also has NCC and NSS units. GIETU Gunupur offers a plethora of degrees and courses with a variety of specialisations. The school of engineering and technology offers doctoral and research programmes, B.Tect., B.C.A., M.Tech., and M.C.A. degrees under several AICTE-approved disciplines; the school of management studies offers B.B.A. and M.B.A.; the school of agriculture offers a B.Sc. agriculture degree; the school of sciences offers M.Sc. degrees over five subject specialisations; the school of humanities offers M.A. English and Education programmes. Admissions to GIETU Gunupur are conducted through counselling sessions where students are selected based on candidates’ GIET Entrance Examinations (GIETEE), Odisha JEE, and JEE Main scores and ranks.
GIETU Gunupur offers financial aid, government scholarship schemes, and management scholarships to economically-weaker students on a merit basis as well as academically meritorious students such as state/JEE Main/GIETEE toppers. GIETU Gunupur boasts a team of dedicated and highly qualified faculty members across all schools and specialities who function as capable teachers and caring mentors to students. The faculty members are renowned educationists in their field, a majority of whom have acquired doctoral degrees. Admission Procedure
GIET University, Gunupur (co-ed), offers B.Tech degrees in several specializations, B.Sc in Agriculture, B.B.A, and B.C.A. Admissions are open to all students who have completed 10+2 or equivalent. Admission to the B. Tech courses is based on the scores of the Gandhi Institute of Engineering Technology Entrance Examination(GIETEE) or the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) Main, or the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE), followed by counselling. Admission to B.C.A. and B.B.A course is based on previous academic performance. Admission to the B.Sc programme is based on previous academic performance and GIETEE score. Students who wish to apply can do so through the GIETU's official website.
GIETU Gunpur also offers postgraduate degrees ( M.Tech / MCA / MBA / M.SC) programmes with various specializations. Interested candidates can apply through their official website. To apply for their degree candidate must qualify for an entrance examination GIETEE with valid marks. And for their PhD degree candidate must qualify UGC-NET/ CSIR/ GATE entrance exam with valid marks.
