In the year 2008, Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida (GBU Greater Noida) was established by the Uttar Pradesh Act (9) of 2002. GBU Greater Noida is financially supported by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), both of which are owned by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. GBU Greater Noida is recognized by the University Grants Commission of India under section 2(f) of UGC Act 1956 and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. GBU Greater Noida welcomed its first batch of students in August 2008 at its 511-acre campus in Greater Noida. The campus is designed as a fully residential educational space, inspired by leading higher education institutions worldwide.

For UG admission, candidates must pass HSC(10+2) from any board. And for PG admission, candidates must complete a bachelor's degree and for a Ph.D. degree, postgraduation is required. Admission will be done on the university norms.
