Located in the most rapidly developing city of Madhya Pradesh, Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), Chhindwara was established in 2010. It is one of the 12 campuses of FDDI which was established in 1986, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. FDDI has the goals of developing Human Resources within the country, to provide and develop appropriate infrastructure to the Indian footwear industry and to promote the growth of export quality footwear from within the country alongside leather products, retail and fashion merchandise. FDDI Chhindwara is a Government owned autonomous university.

The faculty members at FDDI Chhindwara are well trained from the top fashion schools in the world. They bring out the best potential in the students through their extensive exposure and practical experience as well their professional skills. The faculty members indulge the students in diverse real-world projects as well.

Footwear Design and Development Institute, Chhindwara offers two undergraduate and a postgraduate program. The selection process requires the candidates to appear in the FDDI All India Selection Test (FDDI-AIST), followed by counseling. The selected candidates need to then pass a written Paper based Test (PBT) to get admitted in the specified courses.

Although FDDI Chhindwara does not provide any scholarships by itself, the students from all FDDI campuses are eligible to apply for scholarship programmes provided by the government at the central or state level.

The placement procedure at FDDI happens to be a centralized placement for all the campuses and is run by the FDDI, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The Corporate and Public Relations (C&PR) Department of FDDI provides career counseling and guidance to the students. The C&PR Department is responsible to invite reputable organizations for internships and placements of the students. The invited organizations include Adidas, Apparel Group-Dubai, AVT, Bata India Ltd., Carlton London, Clarks, Da-Milano, Farida Group, Future Group, Gaurav Gupta, Genesis Luxury, Globes, H&M, Hi-Design, Khadims, Landmark, Liberty, Lifestyle, Li & Fung, Marks & Spencers, Max Lifestyle, Puma among others.

The campus of Footwear Design and Development Institute, Chhindwara is Wi-Fi enabled and the classrooms are equipped with modern teaching aids. The campus has separate fully furnished hostels accommodating 175 male students and 125 female students. TV rooms, common rooms and game rooms are available to give the students a homely feel. The campus has a computer lab furnished with top-of-the-line software and hardware. There is also a cutting edge visual merchandising lab as well as a CAD/CAM lab.

Admission Procedure

Two undergraduate courses (B.Des) and a postgraduate course (MBA) are offered by Footwear Design and Development Institute, Chhindwara. All candidates for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions must submit an online application for the FDDI All India Selection Test (FDDI-AIST), followed by counselling. Each and every qualified applicant would need to pass a test (Paper Based Test) given by FDDI. Only English will be used as the test's medium. A candidate for the postgraduate program must have a bachelor's degree in any field. All qualified candidates must appear at the examination centres they select for the written entrance examination in the city of their choice. The written admission exam aims to evaluate candidates' knowledge, aptitude, and suitability for the chosen program. 

Faculty

The faculty at Footwear Design and Development Institute, Chhindwara is skilled and experienced, which motivates students to achieve their best potential. In association with Academia, R & D, and practising staff, the faculty creates printed self-educational materials. Through collaboration with the faculty members on diverse real-world projects, students develop their skills and knowledge while learning essential information about design applications and market dynamics. The professors have training from some of the top fashion schools in the world as well as from FDDI, bringing to the classroom their professional skills, extensive exposure, and years of practical experience.

Placements

All Footwear Design and Development Institute campuses participate in a centralised campus placement procedure run by the FDDI, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. FDDI's students receive important career counselling and guidance from the Corporate and Public Relations Department. For internships and job placement of students across all campuses and courses, the C&PR department invites reputable national and international businesses. Scholarships

According to the procedures and qualifying requirements, students from all Footwear Design and Development Institute campuses are eligible to apply for scholarships given by government (central and state) agencies. There are no scholarships available from FDDI. FDDI processes and forwards the scholarship applications of the eligible students to the applicable agencies.
