Footwear Design and Development Institute, Ankleshwar (FDDI Ankleshwar) is the Gujarat campus of the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) established by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India in the year 1986. The premier Government Institution offers design and development courses, and has experienced and skilled faculty to guide the way.
Two undergraduate courses, Bachelor of Design in Footwear Design and Production, and Bachelor of Design in Fashion Design are offered by FDDI Ankleshwar at present. Final admissions to the undergraduate courses at FDDI Ankleshwar are granted after clearing the entrance examinations conducted by the University. Students willing to take admission must qualify 10+2 level examination from a recognised board, or have a full-time 3-year diploma, and then submit their applications online via the official website of FDDI Ankleshwar. Scholarships provided by both the state and central government can be availed by the students to aid their studies.
FDDI Ankleshwar, has a world-class infrastructure to facilitate better learning. The classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with multimedia facilities. Conference halls, seminar halls, multiple well-equipped specialised labs, and a well-stocked Library are all there for the scholars to avail themselves. Hostel accommodation is provided for boys. FDDI Ankleshwar has provisions for various sporting activities. Multiple special workshops are also arranged for by the Institute, such as Apparel Workshop and Fashion Design Workshop, to garner greater enthusiasm among students and better facilitate the learning process.
Admission Procedure
Two undergraduate courses in design (B.Des) are offered by FDDI Ankleshwar. All candidates for undergraduate admissions must submit an online application for the All India Selection Test (AIST) or Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED), followed by counselling. Each and every qualified applicant would need to pass a test (Paper Based Test) given by FDDI Ankleshwar. Only English will be used as the test's medium. The candidates must appear at the examination centres they select for the written entrance examination, in the city of their choice. The purpose of the written admission exam is to evaluate candidates' knowledge, aptitude, and suitability for the chosen program.
Faculty
The faculty at FDDI Ankleshwar is skilled and experienced, which motivates students to achieve their best potential. In association with Academia, R & D, and practising staff, the faculty creates printed self-educational materials. Through collaboration with the faculty members on diverse real-world projects, students develop their skills and knowledge while learning essential information about design applications and market dynamics. The professors have training from some of the top fashion schools in the world as well as from FDDI, bringing to the classroom their professional skills, extensive exposure, and years of practical experience.
Placements
All FDDI campuses, including Footwear Design and Development Institute, Ankleshwar, participate in a centralised campus placement procedure run by the FDDI, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The Institute's students receive important career counselling and guidance from the Corporate and Public Relations Department. For internships and job placement of students across all campuses and courses, the Training and Placement Department invites reputable national and international businesses. Adidas, Apparel Group-Dubai, AVT, Bata India Ltd., Carlton London, Clarks, Da-Milano, Farida Group, Future Group, Gaurav Gupta, Genesis Luxury, Globes, H&M, Hi-Design, Khadims, Landmark, Liberty, Lifestyle, Li & Fung, Marks & Spencers, Max Lifestyle, and Puma are a few companies that offer placements and internships.
Scholarships
According to the procedures and qualifying requirements, students from all Footwear Design and Development Institute campuses are eligible to apply for scholarships given by government (central and state) agencies. There are no scholarships available from FDDI. FDDI processes and forwards the scholarship applications of the eligible students to the applicable agencies.
