UPSC NDA & NA 2024 Syllabus

The syllabus for the UPSC NDA & NA Examination is designed to test the overall aptitude and potential of the candidates in various areas.

What are the Syllabus of UPSC NDA & NA 2024?

The exam consists of two papers:

Paper 1: Mathematics (300 marks)

This paper tests the mathematical ability of the candidates. The topics covered in this paper include Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry of Two and Three Dimensions, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus and Differential Equations, Vector Algebra, and Statistics and Probability.

Paper 2: General Ability Test (600 marks)

This paper is divided into two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A tests the English language skills of the candidates and Part B tests their general knowledge in various areas such as Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, and Current Events.

The Services Selection Board Interview (SSB) technique is divided into two phases stage I and stage II. Only applicants who pass stage I are allowed to participate in stage II. These specifics are:

  1. Stage I consists of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) exams such as the Picture Perception, and Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be narrowed down based on their combined OIR Test and PP&DT results.

  2. Stage II includes an interview, tasks for group testing officers, psychological tests, and a conference. Four days are spent conducting these examinations. The website joinindianarmy.nic.in provides information on these examinations in detail.

The personality of a candidate is evaluated by three separate assessors: the Interviewing Officer (IO), the Group Testing Officer (GTO), and the Psychologist. Each test does not have a separate weighting. Assessors only assign the marks after considering the candidate's overall performance throughout all of the tests. Additionally, marks for the conference are assigned depending on the candidate's initial performance in the three techniques and the Board's decision. The different IO, GTO, and Psych examinations are made to reveal a candidate's presence or absence of Officer Like Qualities as well as their trainability. Candidates are thereafter either recommended or not recommended at the SSB.

It is important for the candidates to have a good grasp of the syllabus in order to perform well in the exam and secure a seat in the NDA & NA. The syllabus is comprehensive and covers a wide range of subjects, so the candidates are advised to prepare well and stay updated on current events to increase their chances of success.
