About IAT 2024

Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) are a group of premier institutes in India that provide undergraduate and graduate education in science and related fields. There are currently seven IISERs located across India, with each institute being autonomous and offering courses in their respective areas of specialization. The seven IISERs are located in Kolkata, Pune, Mohali, Bhopal, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, and Berhampur. Each of these institutes offers a five-year integrated BS-MS program in various disciplines of science.
Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research conducts an entrance exam for students seeking admission into its 5-year BS-MS dual degree program. This entrance exam is also known as IISER Aptitude Test (IAT).  IAT assesses a student's ability in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. It is a computer-based test that is given in several sessions. There are multiple-choice questions on the exam, with negative markings for incorrect responses. To be eligible to take IAT, the candidate must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent exam in the Science stream. In addition, the candidate must have received at least 60% (55% for SC/ST/PwD) in aggregate in the 10+2 exam.
Admission into IISER is done through three different channels namely the State and Central Boards Channel (SCB), the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology, and the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY). Only the candidates seeking admission through State and Central Boards Channel (SCB) will need to appear for IAT 2024.
IAT 2024 application process began on the 15th of April and closed on the 25th of May.
