About COMEDK UGET 2024

COMEDK, or the "Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka," is a self-governing organisation made up of eminent administrators and senior academicians with experience in the field of education. KPCF (Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation - Medical & Dental) and KUPECA entrusted this autonomous COMEDK with the duty of organising testing procedures to ascertain the merit of aspiring students in an efficient, fair, transparent, and non-exploitation procedure (Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association). This has allowed COMEDK to assist 16 medical, 24 dental, and roughly 150 engineering colleges. Since its founding in 2004-05, COMEDK has been running the yearly entrance exam for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in participating institutions. Over the past 15 years, COMEDK has also organised single window centralised counselling processes. All of the government-appointed Admission Oversight Committees have praised COMEDK's efforts over the years, and the Honourable Supreme Court has cited the COMEDK exam as an example exam.

Following the mandate that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) be the sole exam accepted for admission to Medical and Dental programmes in the nation, COMEDK continues the evaluation process for the members of KUPECA or the roughly 190 Engineering colleges. For the current academic year 2024 - 2025, COMEDK will conduct an online examination across 400 centres in India on Sunday, 12 May 2024, for engineering programmes that offer about 20000 seats. The online examination will be followed by online counselling.

COMEDK UGET 2024 Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the engineering admission examination are:

  • The second PUC or 10+2 Higher Secondary or equivalent examination recognised by State or Central Government is the required qualifying exam for admission to B.E./B. Tech programmes; the final two years of study must include Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with English as a required subject.

  • Candidates for general merit must have passed Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 45% (40% for candidates from the Karnataka State who are SC, ST, or OBC). Along with Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, and Electronics as optional subjects, Physics and Mathematics are required subjects. The AICTE/VTU will, however, be followed in any changes it makes to the eligibility requirements.

  • A COMEDK Entrance Test attempt for engineering course admission is sufficient to be included in the rank list.

  • Since there are no lateral entry admissions, diploma candidates are not permitted to take the entrance test.

  • Note: To demonstrate their eligibility concerning the exam results as shown by the original marks card, candidates must bring their original marks cards to counselling.

The eligibility criteria for the architecture admission examination are:

  • Second PUC or 10+2 is the required qualifying examination for admission to the B. Arch course.

  • The candidates must have passed the 10+2 scheme of examination with at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (45% for SC, ST, and OBC candidates of Karnataka) and at least 50% aggregate marks in the 10+2 level examination (45% for SC, ST, and OBC candidates of Karnataka), or passed the 10+3 Diploma examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC, ST, and OBC candidates).

  • All applicants for admission to the B.Arch. programme from Karnataka, including SC, ST, and OBC candidates, must pass the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) given by the Council of Architecture. The candidate must receive at least the qualifying marks in the aggregate as well as the cut-off marks in each of the two individual NATA components to qualify. Candidates who have passed any other architecture aptitude test administered by a different body must also pass NATA to be considered for admission to the B. Arch programme. Only NATA scores and qualifying examination marks will be taken into account when creating the merit list.

  • There won't be an entrance exam given by COMEDK to applicants for the B. Arch course.

  • According to the announcement on the COMEDK website, candidates seeking admission to the B. Arch course must submit a separate application form for counselling (which will be made available before counselling). Candidates who are only interested in the architecture programme do not need to complete the online application for the engineering entrance exam.

Note: Any modifications made by the AICTE, VTU, COA, or any other regulatory bodies before the start of COMEDK's rank generation process will be applied mutatis mutandis, despite the eligibility requirements stated above. The predetermined eligibility requirements will not be changed after the ranks have been generated.
